(Well, not really but it relates to the idea of the title). Now that I have your attention, I want to bring something to your attention from the latest episode that aired in Japan. In episode 113 Ash asks Dawn which Pokemon she will use in her next contest. If you'll recall in the Advanced Generation, May continually opted to use her Beautifly and others in her contests rather than Torchic, causing it to feel neglected. This was soon remedied however when Torchic evolved into Combusken. Now, whilst this is only a single instance, it reminded me of this straight away. Piplup was so sure that Dawn was going to say, 'I'll use Piplup of course'. Instead to which she replied, 'Pachirisu and Buneary', causing Piplup to fall over comically in disappointment. Now whilst Piplup is a huge icon in Japan and instantly identifiable as a current Pokemon mascot next to Pikachu (and possibly the most recognizable DP pokemon), this made me think are they going the same way with Piplup as they did with Torchic? Like I said there's only really been this one instance. But if Piplup continues to get overlooked will it eventually hope to evolve in order to gain respect from Dawn? With this new information and back history regarding Torchic, I wonder what you think of this notion? Possible? Highly unlikely? Discuss.

Well i think Pilpup will evovle but not now. Maybe when she returns as a guest star in the 5G she might have a Prinplup by then. that is what i think anyway.

Same with Mid basically. Piplup might learn some moves now and then but doesn't it seem kind of weird if both Dawn and Kenny had a Prinplup?

Yeah, I agree. But it'll only be as much as a recently evolved Prinplup when she gets back.

I honestly think that Dawn will have a Prinplup, then sometime along, Kenny will come back, Dawn trying to rub it in his face, but Kenny gets the last laugh when he pulls out his evolved Empoleon. It's how I would do it.

Well i don't think it matters if Kenny and Dawn have the same starter Pokemon. do you guys remember Tyson? the guy Ash fought at the hoeen championships. he and Ash both had Septile.
So i think it doesn't matter if they have the same starter pokemon at all.

Ash has two Pokemon on his team that are the same as Paul, a Grotle and a Gliscor. I agree, I don't think it matters that much if the Pokemon are the same species or family. Jun also has an Empoleon, I don't think it will matter too much. UPDATE bulbanews.bulbagarden.net/wiki/DP121_title_revealedThe title of the episode states that Piplup may evolve. With one of Ash's Pokemon evolving in this weeks episode, it may be a very exciting time to be watching Pokemon right now. Though take it with a grain of salt...There's more chance of Chimchar evolving than Piplup. Piplup, the new Pikachu.

Piplup has been the new Pikachu for a while now... just a lot weaker, and blue.

And just an off topic note, check the character bios at Serebii.net and count how many times they use the word 'Powerhouse' to describe a pokemon. They don't use it to describe Piplup though, lol.

The only two Pokemon described as powerhouses on Dawn's team are Ambipom and Mamoswine.

One of the translations provided says that Dawn gives Piplup an Everstone in that episode.
I'm more concerned with the possibility of Ambipom leaving

Yeah, I read that too. And all I can say is, 'F**k'. Let's face it, Piplup will forever be an overrated Pikachu wannabe. Sighs.
As for Ambipom leaving, there hasn't been a episode description of her getting rid of Ambipom. She is definitely going to use it in a contest soon, however. Then again, it wouldn't be the first time a main character has said goodbye to a Pokemon on their team...

I'm pretty certain Dawn won't have the strongest of Pokemon by the end of the series... *sighs* The main girls are more and more like Ash each generation.

Well Dawn has a mamoswine. i don't know if you call that strong or not.
And Dawn DID WHAT? she gave a everstone to Pilpup? what is the girl thinking? she would look better with either a Prinplup or Empleon. Looks like there another Pikachu in showbiz. -_-
