Except that religion should not be a valid reason since there is a seperation of church and state. And in any case, marriage has existed for far longer than Christianity. Just look at the Code of Hammurabi, which is the oldest known set of laws and predates Christianity by several thousand years (and marriage likely existed for a time before then too. Not to mention that societies prior to the advent of Christianity had absolutely no problems with it; look at Ancient Greek, and the Isle of Lesbos in particular.
To quote myself from BMGf: I am entirely in favour of same-sex marriage. What those who are against it are basically saying is that some people are not allowed the full rights they are entitled to as citizens under the law. Would you tell two black people that they can't marry, or two Muslims?
And if you're denying them equal rights of citizens, then what are they? If homosexuals aren't being given the full rights that are given to any other people, then why should they be held accountable under the same laws as straight people? By denying them basic equal rights, you are essentially saying that they are not citizens. So why should they pay taxes or be have to follow the same laws as heterosexuals if they aren;t being considered citizens?
If they aren't citizens, what are they?
I have yet to see a valid reason for why same-sex marriage should be illegal that ISN'T rooted in religion. Seperation of church and state; keep that in mind. At they end of the day we're all people.

I'm against. Don't take it personally, it's just a religion thing. Assuming you're Christian, there's nothing in the bible (as far as I've seen) that says it's wrong.

Aside from the religion thing (yes, I am Christian, but remember: There are different types of Bibles), I am okay with same-sex marriages. But yes, I do vote "no" because of my religion.

There is one Bible, and it is split into two parts. The Bible, or so I have heard, does say that "Man should not lay with Man", but even if you could use religion as a valid reason, then it would only affect Christians, as in Atheists, Muslims, etc, would not need to listen to that.

The Dharmic religions such as Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Sikhism neither condemn nor condone homosexuality (and, in some instances, actually condone it), as opposed to certain religions which outright condemn it.

Well, you know my stance on homosexuality, since I practically read enough yuri fanfics to melt my brain. =P Seriously, though, all those psychological problems that are so-called, "caused," by homosexuality are occurent ONLY because of the prejudice that non-supporters have for them. So, if someone DARES to bring up that point, ask them why they think it is a valid point.
