Well, you know that I am an AdvanceShipper (hence why this site exists) and the reason why I became one is because they always seem the most compatible couple in the entire anime. They have the same likes, their personalities are splitting images of each other, the kinds of interactions that they can do are countless as well as funny, and, as we all know, Ash actually cares for May, unlike the others. H%$$, he even sacrificed himself for her in Temple of the Sea.

My reason, is kinda of a long one. But, if anyone should get credit for me becoming an advanceshipper, thank my once a Pokeshipper, brother Michael.

The first episode EVER for the Advanced Generation, Get the Show on the Road, and that little "YES!" When Ash said yes to travel with May. That was my FIRST true intention of becoming an advanceshipper ;D

Ohhh, I remember Michael. At least he brought some good comedy to your author's notes.

I first learned about Advanceshipping when I came across a Youtube video by accident. It compared pokeshipping, Advanceshipping, and Pearlshipping side by side. The pearlshipping part of it lacked much artwork and other stuff because it was very early in the D/P series.
Then I first thought Ash and May would make a great couple as well as Ash and Dawn; eventually I lost interest in Ash and Dawn and decided that Advanceshipping is the best of them all.

Ah hah, so Youtube is instrumental to making our fanbase larger. It is just not easy to find Advanceshipping videos when only the word "pokemon" is searched. Which is why I recommended that if we want more Advanceshippers then we should make Advanceshipping videos easier to find.
This is just something I needed to say here instead of the "Concerns about the welfare of Advanceshipping" thread because there are a few instances here where Youtube came in handy in introducing Advanceshipping to the public.

I would be in the same boat as Preator. I saw one the YouTube videos originally, I'm almost positive that it was one of Zea's actually, and they recommended that people should read "May's Crush." So having my interest perked, I did. After reading that, I was hooked. It so far has been the best fic I've read, sorry to say to everyone who I've reviewed for. And it was only after that when I started to find out more about the hints and the fanart (of course not forgetting fanfiction as well).

I mean, come on. The fanfiction is the main attracting elements hook, line, and sinker. Well, I also have to say, we were pretty active for a long time. And, we have like a couple of new people on the community every three months.

-For me, the thought of AshxMisty was just kind of weird, even when I first watched the anime. Then, when I heard that there was a season after Johto, plus a new girl, I started my neckbreaking research about this "new girl". My research got deeper and deeper, and I found myself interested in May's character. It was THEN that I learned about the concept of shipping, and thus everything else is MY author history. -On a hilarious little side note, my GF(sadly not the one portrayed in "Acquaintance Party" and "Commitment") wasn't exactly a fan of Pokemon at all, but she thought AshxMay was a good pairing(she was into all sorts of pairing stuff in anime, etc.). She would make me watch "Temple of the Sea" over and over again at home with her(we live under the same roof) making ME tired of the movie.

^ How many times are we talking here? You should NEVER be tired of that movie! (Nah, I'm just kidding, but seriously... I haven't gotten tired of it yet, but I've probably watched it less than 20 times.) At first I thought it was a cute idea, then I noticed subtle things that hinted towards it and the Manaphy film just really hit it home for me and BAM! Advanceshipper! I wasn't really a fan of Misty (I didn't hate her, but didn't like her). Pokeshipping just seemed like a bad idea, even when Misty was the only girl at the time (excluding movie characters and character of the day).

-Ever heard of "too much of a good thing...?", ;D. Touché. I guess everyone reaches their limit. You should be able to quote it verbatim by now!
