No, not the ships the Gundams use, ;D, I mean the relationships, of course! Discuss your favorite ships from the gundam meta-verse here.

Well I'll go with a couple of obvious ones: Kira/Lacus, Heero/Relena, Athurn/Cagali
I never really thought too much into these ships as much as Pokemon

Well I'll go with a couple of obvious ones: Kira/Lacus, Heero/Relena, Athurn/Cagali -Obvious in the sense that they're the very first 'ships that come to mind when you watch the series. In case of Gundam Seed, however, I was completely thrown aback by the conflicts that Kira would arouse when he ships with other girls(who would, in the future, be actually romantically involved with him). At that time, I thought that the only 'ship Kira would get into without any conflict is with Cagalli. This was, of course, when I first watched Seed, of course.

Ya it kinda kills the shipping once you learn that she's his sister. Its funny how they try to set that one up all the way until that point. And then they dump the full Kira/Lacus on you once they reunite in space. The best we got before that was Lacus was impressed by Kira and probably had a small crush on him while Kira was the same way but only a little less.
There aren't too many examples where the originally assumed couples swap partners half way through the series.

The best we got before that was Lacus was impressed by Kira and probably had a small crush on him while Kira was the same way but only a little less. ^Plus there was that she was telling her then-fiance(sp?) Athrun that she likes him, much to Athrun's shock. I was hoping, at that time, that she was only talking about Birdy which was also mentioned in the discussion. For the Heero/Relena bit, how long since I was a fan of this 'ship? Eh, scratch that, I am still a fan, only I don't watch Gundam Wing anymore. Turns out that the manga adaptations gave more canon hints to the pairing than the anime. Heero and Relena may have actually met during Episode Zero, the series prequel, and in one of the two midquels(between main and OVA), they actually kissed! And, in the end of the manga version of Endless Waltz, Heero and Relena are seen standing side by side, Wikipedia saying that the former is now Relena's bodyguard, Secret Service Suit and all. How I wish I have those manga. My current girlfriend told me all of this, only I wasn't much interested in the matter, ironically when she actually had a copy of those manga! When I re-ignited my interest, she told me she gave them away! The fates are conspiring to get me!

Wow, talk about bad luck. I haven't read the manga either, but I have heard of the bodyguard stuff before. And besides there are still more hints in the actual anime as well. Although these really can't make it truly cannon by itself just the fact that its Heero thats doing it makes it appear as a virtual definite of the relationship.

Wow, talk about bad luck. -I'm quite prone to it, . Although these really can't make it truly cannon by itself just the fact that its Heero thats doing it makes it appear as a virtual definite of the relationship. Here's a website: www.yaoijanai.comI don't know what "janai" means, but disregard the yaoi part. It's quite a large fansite, dedicated to all possible pairings in Wing. And I mean all. Plus, click on "Official GW", then "Merchandise", and, finally, "Books". There's a screenshot of the kiss scene I was talking about, although they refer to it as a mere "near-kiss". By the manner Heero took Relena's hand prior to it, I think he started the motion, not the other way around.

Well a janai is a type of Genie for some ancient myth, but the yaoi is a little hard to ignore. And I can take a guess at what you mean by all shippings...
Other than that I will probably take a look at that tonight sometime. Thanks Dryuu. And congrats on finally making it to full member status.

I don't know what "janai" means... 'janai' is a suffix in japanese to say that something is 'not' something. Yaoi is 'boys love' therefore yaoijanai would mean, 'not boys love' or something like that.

I had stumbled upon the site almost over five years ago, just when I first became an Internet-aholic. I was quite surprised(and relieved) that it's still up after all this time. James, thanks for the trivia, BTW.

whoops, guess I should have been thinking completely in Japanese for that one (seems almost too obvious now that James pointed it out). I understood the first part but mispronounced the second part, which lead to the different origin. Sorry about that.

Me, the only Japanese word/phrase that I understood was the catchphrase of the site that means "I love you", I think. I was corny enough to use it on her when I was still wooing her, five years ago. Big mistake.
Heero's side of Hints(my handy-dandy "ship radar" pointed out 1, 2, 3 and 5 when we were watching reruns on CN): 1) He saved Relena three times, chronologically as an "accidental" impulse, on instinct, and the last actually on purpose, respectively. 2) Waking for the first time from a coma, the first thing Heero thought he saw was Relena(though it actually wasn't). 3) On his last attempt, Heero actually refrained from killing Relena himself, finally believing that her ideals stand a chance for peace. 4) After hearing that Relena's onboard Libra, Heero went out of his way to rescue her. 5) Accompanying the hint above, the pilots discuss Heero's motives, and Trowa said something about love. *She doesn't remember.* 6) In the climax, Heero refrained from killing Zechs, "Because Relena will be sad." I couldn't remember all of them, but maybe I'll update the list when I do.

Well at least her awareness isn't being wasted. These were some good ones, and I can remember almost all of them. Although number 5 eludes me right now. If I have some free time I'll need to watch that again, and considering it was one of the first animes that I've ever watched will make it so that it will never get old.
Its also kinda funny that we are really the only ones talking about this, James jumped in for a quick fact and that was it.

Although number 5 eludes me right now. I am also skeptical at that, thinking "it's all in her head". Its also kinda funny that we are really the only ones talking about this, James jumped in for a quick fact and that was it. At least there's a discussion going on. As for the other thread I started in this board, I'm going to try for an essay format. Anyways, here are a few hints I had the courage to ask her earlier today, plus the Endless Waltz hints. Got to be careful, she's getting suspicious(see that some of the hint discussions are quite long? They're pure speculation in her part, much like #5): 7) At the end of the episode before his rescue attempt, Heero softly said Relena's name. Scene changes, and Relena repeats the gesture, only with Heero's name instead, indicating they may have a Newtype-like psychic bond. ^That was influenced by her interest on Newtype abilities that I told her of when she was recently(and shortly) fascinated by Gundam Seed. 8) Before heading off to duel his nemesis Zechs, Heero pulled Relena's face close to his, telling her that "He will come back to her". ^Even though I know that she watched that scene countless times already, I could still tell she was still on the edge of her seat, thinking that they're actually going to kiss, . 9) After his duel with Zechs, Heero heads off to the Libra's reactor(I think) to destroy Libra. Heero thinks that the only way for him to destroy the reactor would be to self-detonate(all weapon energy was exhausted, save for the Buster rifle, which was missing), he says "Farewell" or "Sorry"(again, she doesn't actually remember) to Relena. 10) Falling in front of Libra in the Earth's atmosphere, trying to destroy the former, Heero shouts out "I will survive!", or something like that. This is because of Heero's promise to Relena on #8 has given him a will to live throughout the battle. 11) Heero, being secretive as he is, gave Relena a teddy bear as a birthday present during the series ending. Endless Waltz Hints:1) Heero's sole motive for going to X18999 was to save Relena. He didn't even mention anything about stopping the 2nd Operation Meteor until they(he and Duo) were actually there. 2) During the climax, before Heero could fire his third(and final, in a way) shot from the W Zero's rifle, Dekim taunted him that Relena was still there in the bunker. The former's taunt worked in a way he didn't expect, as Heero hesitated for a moment, not wanting to hurt Relena. 3) Heero promised in front of Relena that he will never kill again, before fainting from exhaustion, landing in her arms. ^She awed at this, followed by a weird look at me. This led to my loathing of the "word"(see Trials2). 4) Once again, Heero and Relena seem to have that weird Newtype-like connection at the end of the movie(before the credits). 5) (this was in the epilogue, the scenes after the credits)As a nod to the manga, the second-to-last scene of the movie has Heero watching over Relena like a bodyguard. EDIT: I posted as #13 again! Sheesh!

I didn't give away those manga, my Mom threw them out when you were still in high school. Here's some cute art I found: PS: What's this ship radar you are all talking about? Does it have anything to do with Gundam?
