Under that reasoning I wouldn't be mad if they did something like that instead of giving him Riolu then (just removing the Pearlshipping of course).
And that would be a good question to build on, if Ash really does get Riolu/Lucario would we see a return of him using aura?

^ Hmm I doubt it. It would detract too much from the point of Pokemon. It would become more like Dragon Ball Z if it did. Maybe if he were a lot older...

Movie 8 with the whole storyline reminded me of Tales of Symphonia more than anything else

True, but considering that in the movie he was supposed to have a high connection with aura and then all of a sudden he basically forgets he has it kinda makes the movies seem a little too separate from the series.

Thats what makes it sad when they ditch the movie info that quickly and never bring it back up until much later. It's depressing....

If they even bring it up again at all. I'm not sure if they even have brought up info from the movies in the series.

Thye have, but rarely. During Master Quest qhen they met silver, i believe Ash related back to Lugia from "The Power of One" and in DP when they met Lucario of the gym leader (which i suddenly forgot her name) Ash related back to Movie 8

You guys have to remember that bringing up such references to a previous episode or movie would confuse some of the viewers who don't know what the reference is, and to solve the problem means giving an explanation that the episode does not have time for, because it is only 30 minutes long.
The show has only 30 minutes to start a mini - conflict and end it, so it does not have much or any time for anything else.

They still made connections to the Lucario Movie in one of the Diamond and Pearl episodes. Ash knew immediately what an Aura Sphere was when he saw it performed by Maylene's Lucario. I think he's really fascinated by Lucario anyways. Also Jessie tried to feed Maylene's Lucario chocolate, just like Max gave to Sir Aaron's Lucario in the movie.

Thinking of Lucario, how many people here use Lucario in their party?
Me, I have one, but i perfer Scizor as a better combatant
Or better yet.
What is your combatant pokemon in Wi/fi play?

Your combatant? Can you please define what you mean by that? I don't understand. Do you mean Physical Sweeper?

I've got two Lucario in my squad of 24, one special (Aura Sphere, Dragon Pulse, Dark Pulse, Psychic) and one physical (Swords Dance, Close Combat, ExtremeSpeed, Crunch). I've done this because they have useable special and physical attack stats. The same can be done with Salamence and Infernape.
My main teams are in my sig. though I'm thinking of swapping out one of my main team for my Gengar (Wide Lens + Hypnosis + Dream Eater = Pain in the ass!)
The other team is centered around Sandstorm, though I'm thinking of swapping my Flygon for Empolion, just so i have another wall on the squad.

Most people have a certain position for their pokemon. Like how my Garchomp is my powerhouse, my scizor is my Combatant, Blaziken is my strategist, Ampharos is my artillery, Gengar's my mental hacker, while Gyardos is my first strike
So who's your combateer?

Honestly, I've never heard those terms before, with the exception of powerhouse. I just thought there were Physical / Special / Mixed Sweepers, Walls, Tanks, etc. But I've probably spent too much time on serebii.
Could you explain your terms please? I may be able to answere them then.

Well, if I still had my intact team in my summary (it sucks since I deleted it without knowing...), I'd say most of my Pokemon are mixes of Powerhouses, HM carriers, and type specialists.
