It was supposed to be neutral?
That part before edited felt like it was about a two-sided contestshipping.

Well she wanted it to be neutral, and depending on how you looked at it it could have meant Drew of Ash. Which is exactly what happened with us.

Hopefully, it WILL BE neutral now that she edited it.

That counts...hope you have some way of returning back to Advanceshipping.
I just hope that it isn't "Oh, Drew cheated on me so I love you NOW" kind of crap.
I actually like " I thought I had already sorted out my feelings when I went out with Drew, but I was terribly wrong. I felt unhappy and sad, and I felt that something was not right. After a little more thinking, I realized that I went out with Drew because I was afraid of telling you that I love you, Ash ".
In general, I favor stories that showed that May loved Ash first and continued to love him, but in a subtle way. And vice versa for Ash.

I think Contestshipping and Advanceshipping can exist in a story and not in the way mentioned above with Drew cheating (that does get done a lot) but in all fairness, Drew looks like the type.
Ash and May could argue and seperate, thinking they're doing what's right by keeping away from each other. Only to reunite later and realise their feelings for each other are still there and are still strong. They ran away from each other but realised they weren't over each other.
I dunno if that's been done to death or not.

So, Drew and Misty only serves to take advantage of Ash and May while they are locked in a conflict?
Well, it has been done before, but not overused. League of Legends, by Lord Zant is an example.

Well, I meant more like (for example) May might have feelings for Drew but there are still those feelings for Ash as well, if they had a fight and didn't speak to each other these feelings are still present but are consciously trying to be suppressed or lay dormant until something reminds them of each other. So whilst she has feelings for Drew, the feelings for Ash are a lot stronger. Something like that. Not so much that they take advantage of the conflict between Ash and May, but 'benefit' from it. It doesn't have to be malicious at all, I guess that's what I mean.

So May and Ash may just be infatuated with Misty and Drew, but in love with each other. Or something close to that?

Like that play where every one fell in love with the wrong person?

You mean a Midsummer Night's Dream, by Shakespeare? No, more like what would happen if Helena (from the same play) were to act like she was interested in Lysander to get Demitrius jealous.

After realizing that Lord Vurtax wrote a pearlshipping story, I hoped that it was JUST a challenge he took on.
I'm getting the strange and depressing feeling that some people are turning into other ships after putting so much effort into their fics.

Well people can have second shippings, theres nothing wrong with that. I have to admit sometimes it gets hard writing about the same thing many times. Besides, its hard to turn away from Advanceshipping once you get into it.
