For independence of course, as you've probably noticed, most people in the pokemon world travel alone. What will you say if you find out she traveled by herself in Johto? You can still be friends with someone and have a different path to follow. If she was back in the main group it just wouldn't work having two coordinators/rivals, maybe it can, but I highly doubt it. Think back to May's reasoning for leaving the group in the first place, it can potentially be a reason for her to wish to travel alone once more should she be recurring. If she wanted to travel alone, then she could have gone to a seperate region; like what she did for a while in Johto. It is pointless traveling alone in the same region your friends are traveling in; it makes everybody feel the distance. So close, yet so far away.

Well even if she wants independence, May can have it while still wanting to see old friends. Besides, the Sinnoh contest circuit is more unique than others out there with the formal wear and the seals. So maybe that interests May enough to head there as her next option.

May can display her independence by doing things herself, WHILE traveling with Ash and the group. She could impress even Brock with what she learned to do on her own. That way, she can maintain independence while traveling with the group.

But she wasn't featured as a part of the group in the shots of the next D/P movie. While that isn't anything conclusive, its just one piece that says that she won't. Not to mention having two coordinators traveling and competing together might prove to be a little difficult.
Its not like we don't want her to join up again, its just that it looks unlikely.

*Sighs*
You may be right, however, they could cut May out of the movie, then put her back in the show, by using some reason.
Having two coordinators is actually a good thing; May knows more about coordinating than Ash does, so Dawn would benefit more from her advice than that of Ash.
Something concerns me more still, after checking bulbapedia, it said that Ash is partnering up with Brock, and May is with Dawn. It is going to be more difficult to spot the clues or hints; if the writers put them in at all.

Praetor, I don't think you see the big picture here. You have to look at this from a writer's point of view. If you only have a half hour to write an episode there is no way you can focus on four characters, people will be shoved into the background. Having May in the group would take focus away from Dawn. The last thing we want is for May to be hated for that. And if she did rejoin the group, focus could be taken away from her as well. As much as we want our Advancehshipping fantasies to be fulfilled, look at it realistically. It would be a case of too many cooks spoiling the stew. However with May written as a recurring character you still get opportunities to focus on her, use her as a catalyst in developing characters like Ash and Dawn and finally, with May as a recurring character, should any hints of Advanceshipping appear, it cannot be done to death because she is recurring. Each moment will be special. If she's with the group all the time, people will be over her quick smart. The show will lose appeal and lack depth if there are too many mains.

I guess you are right; you have a point there.
We'll have to wait until Sinnoh is over before May has any chance of rejoining the group as a main character, and replacing Dawn. No offense to the multi-shippers in the forum.

^ There's a better chance of May rejoining the group than Misty in a new series. Unless of course they bring in yet another new girl.

Which, although the trend, will probably not happen since it's going to get repetitive.

I don't think you can say that because it's really out of our hands. I think a lot of writers fell in love with Dawn when she was created for the game and decided to put her in the show, it could happen again when a cuter female protagonist comes along in the next Pokemon game (should one come out). Repetition is the least of their concerns, how many times has Team Rocket blasted off and tried to capture Pikachu over the last 10 years?

True, but the fan reactions are important.

And I won't be here.TT.TT
But yes, the writers have just started doing random and new things, so...we will never know. And plus, the writers are making Dawn a little "too" girly. And Zoey's even worse.xD
