Feeling calmed at his girlfriends touch, Dave stopped flailing, and reached up to his face, gripping the body of his assailant, and pulling away. Realising he couldn't see anything, he realised that the unidentified Pokemon had gotten hold of his glasses. Fumbling, he found them, removing them from its grip, replacing them on his face, before looking at the creature.
Large, red, segmented eyes looked back at him, separated by a fanged mouth that was curved in a smile. 3 large 'fins' led down its back, past two pairs of large, translucent wings, tipped with red on either side, to a long tail that swished in excitment, on its end another 'fin' and pair of smaller wings. Its dark-green body had red spots on either side, and the top and bottom of its tail section. On its underside, it had six small, clawed legs, with which it had attached itself to Dave's face.
"Oh, great." Sighed the trainer, "And when did you get out? You're getting better, that's for sure....." He muttered, reaching around to the back of his belt, and retrieving a small object, before pushing the button. The object expanded into the familiar shape of a Poke Ball, with the white lower half, black band, and white button. Though on this one, the upper half was teal-coloured, and criss-crossed with raised, black ridges. A Net Ball was good for capturing Pokemon that were Bug or Water-type, such as this one.
"Okay, troublemaker, Return!" Said Dave, pointing the ball at the Pokemon in his arms.
"Yan!" The Pokemon screeched, breaking free as a pale-blue beam of light streaked towards her, just missing its mark. The Pokemon hovered in front of its trainer, shaking her head, before flying up and perching atop Dave's scalp, her tail draped down his back. The trainer sighed.
"What, you don't like your Poke Ball anymore?" He asked, sighing. Feeling his Pokemon shake on top of his head, indicating the negative, he sighed again.
"Fine, you can stay outside. You have been breaking out more and more recently." He relented, putting the Net Ball back on his belt. "You just stay outta trouble, right Yanmega?"
"Mega! Yan-yan!" The Ogre Darner chirped back, happy to have permission to stay outside, since she loved flying free, and being around her trainer.

"Yea, makes sense," Miranda spoke up, agreeing with Dave as she glanced up at the Pokemon perched atop her boyfriend's head. "If she doesn't wanna go back in her ball, then just let her stay out, yeah?" The blonde trainer smiled up happily at the Yanmega, however, the Pokemon, for whatever reason in return, simply glared back, as if the mere presence of her trainer's girlfriend offended her. "Is everything oka--" Miranda began to ask, but she stopped short of finishing her thought when the Pokemon began to buzz warningly. Her eyebrows raised slightly, Miranda instead opted to simply back away from trainer and Pokemon, raising her hands as she did so. "Sorry," she said. "No harm intended, Yanmega." The green Pokemon buzzed back again, whilst Croagunk and Sableye merely continued on with their snickering fest.

'Hmph! Your Yanmega looks poorly trained." James said from behind as he and Vaporeon were about to leave. 'It doesn't look like you have much control over your own Pokemon if you allow it to behave so flippantly.' James did not like trainers like this, ones who did not show discipline and were not truly dedicated to becoming a powerful trainer. Instead they let their Pokemon do as they please, he never allowed his Pokemon the chance to act up and was always firm with them. 'True Pokemon are our allies in battle, if they don't listen to you, it must mean you're not a very skilled trainer.' James continued. He turned at looked at the girl accompanying the male trainer, 'That goes for you as well! I saw how you couldn't even get close to that Yanmega. If that's how you handle Pokemon, I hope you've got a back up career in mind.' He said harshly, 'Honestly, you two call yourselves tariners? What a joke!' He turned his back on them. James' Vaporeon looked on with a slight yearning, then turned around with her trainer.

"Oh yeah, James, then explain why this kid was able to defeat Paul, and as we all know, he's a tough cookie to beat, even for you. H---, even Ash Ketchum, who I consider one of the best in our current history, can't beat him easily. He took that kid down 1, 2, 3." John then appeared out of the open, knowing that James is pretty much a less radical version of Paul.
"You two share the same flaw; that you have no place to comment on one's training. So, if you're really eager to have a challenge, I'll beat you as easily as you did me long ago." John then drew a Cherish Ball, which the others acknowledged as a pretty rare Poke Ball to find. "I want a full Six-on-Six battle. Unless you're not as good as you gloat you are..."

"Well, some people may use their Pokemon in battle, I prefer to battle with friends." Responded Dave, somewhat angered. How dare this trainer tell him how to raise his Pokemon? "Yanmega is one of my best friends, surely it's only natural for her to be at ease around me? I count all my Pokemon as friends, good friends, and that only strengthens their trust in me during battle! They trust me, so they don't have to hesitate to second-guess my orders, as they know I have their best interests at heart!"
Dave was now breathing heavily, incensed by this unprovoked attack on both his training methods, and something else.........
"And how dare you insult my girlfriend? Miranda is a very capable trainer, not that you'd take the time to notice. Maybe if you'd like to find out who's traing methods are better, you wouldn't mind a battle? I've been looking for a strong opponent for a while, and methinks you might just fit the bill. Maybe I could show you what friendship counts for in battle!"
Dave had calmed down now, instead wearing a confident smirk. He knew his Pokemon would be a match for any challenge, even for the obviously strong and proud trainer in front of him. Yanmega sensed her trainers anger and enthusiasm, releasing his head and hovering alongside, up for showing anyone how stong she had become under Dave's command. Dave smiled at her, before turning back to the other trainer.
"So then, you ready to rock?"

(Start RPG-ing)
"Of course I'm ready!" Shouted James with a flare and a sound that sounded like "hmph!"
"For that, I'm not holding ANYTHING BACK!"
Miranda wispered to Sableye, "Watch real closely, okay? This is going to be a great battle, and probably one of your first you've ever watched, so look closely, alright?"
The Sableye nodded.
Miranda smiled. Now facing Dave, she said, "Beat this trainer and lets keep on marching!"
Now it was Dave's turn to nod.

OOC: Umm xlmasterofmiragelx, you have to choose your OWN character and then post.
Back to the story!
James had noticed he had garnered a lot of attention with his previous comments. If there was one thing I didn't like it was having attention drawn to himself. He realised though that now that he has made his bed, he has to sleep in it. A young trainer had appeared from seemingly out of nowhere as he wasn't in the immediate area beforehand. The young man mentioned having battled him a long time ago, he even called him by his name. James stared at the trainer with a great deal of indifference, '...Do I know you?' He asked, not really caring to know either. 'And you have the audacity and gall to challenge me to a six on six battle? You must be joking. Do you have any idea how serious six on six battles are? Do you have any clue as to the preparation and significance such challenges place on both trainer and Pokemon? Obviously not otherwise you wouldn't have bothered to even utter such a beginner phrase. Get your eight Gym Badges and I'll gladly take you down in the Pokemon League...that is...if you make it.' He eyed the Cherish Ball the young trainer held out before him, 'You know there's an old saying...weak dogs bark the loudest, and so far you're the one making the most noise. You're not worth my time.' He then turned his attention to the trainer he had commented on before. 'Touch a nerve did I? The fact you let your emotions spill out of you like that clearly shows you lack the maturity to really handle critical situations in battle. But I suppose that would make sense, considering how you would rather view Pokemon as playmates rather than warriors.' James continued to say in a condescending manner. 'Trust isn't the issue here, what your Pokemon seem to lack is discipline.' He continued, 'And since it's people like you who irritate me most, I wouldn't mind putting you in your place at all.' James looked at a clock on the wall in the Pokemon Center, 'Since I don't have a lot of time to waste, I'll agree to a single battle.' He said, he looked at his Vaporeon, 'After all, one Pokemon is all I'll need.'

"Well, if you're so tough, a battle with me should be no problem, eh?" Replied Dave, now wanting to show this guy what his Pokemon could do more than ever. "I'd rather a three-on-three battle, but if you're sure, a one-on-one is fine with me. Why don't we make this interesting? A type-on-type match. Water vs. Water, Grass vs. Grass, etc. If I remember rightly, I have nine different types on me, so I'm well covered. Why don't you choose one?"

"You know James, there has always been one problem that you AND only you have, and that's admitting that you're scared. Paul knows who to be wary of, and you don't. So, Dave, go out and get him, but leave some for me once you win."

James looked sternly at the two trainers, 'Admitting I'm scared? Acting tough? You don't honestly think that baiting me is going to accomplish anything do you?' He turned to David, 'You're obviously deaf or something, didn't I tell you? Obviously I didn't make myself clear enough for you to understand, I only need one Pokemon.' He then turned his attention to John, 'I don't know you and I am starting to dislike you. Not only do you lack the ability to read your opponents, if you could even call us that, you lack knowledge of basic battle etiquette. You're obviously weak if you need your friend here to soften me up for you. I am being honest when I say I only have time for one battle. After all, I have told you all how I truly feel about each of you, you can't be more honest than that.' 'Type versus Type?' James replied to David's proposal, 'I could care less... Since you're so keen on it, I'll let you choose the typing. That way there'll be no complaining once I defeat you and prove the importance of discipline.'

"Fine then," Replied Dave, "I just thought you only had time for a one-on-one battle, since neither me or my Pokemon are going down easily." He said with a confident grin, Yanmega returning to perch atop his head.
"Tell you what, pick a type to start the battle with, and I'll start with the same type Pokemon. Then we can run through until one of us is out of usable Pokemon, if that's ok with you, of course."
Dave then turned away from the Pokemon Centre, beckoning Miranda and James to follow "Come on then! I know a great arena in the Battle Park, that'd be perfect for us to use!"

'Are you deaf or something?' James said impatiently, 'I said one on one! My mistake for thinking you were actually listening. If you're going to waste this much time and simply say whatever comes to mind, I guess I have no choice but to lay out the rules myself.' James looked at his Vaporeon, 'Since she's already out and seems eager to battle, my Vaporeon will be my choice of Pokemon. You pick your Water Pokemon and we'll take it from there.' The Vaporeon barked and swished its fishlike tail. 'There's an open water area where trainers can battle within Battle Park. That will be the battle ground.'

Dave grinned again, "Water-types, eh? You read my mind! I was heading for the water-arena myself. And if you're sure about one-on-one, it's fine by me. I thought you were insinuating one of your Pokemon could take on my whole team, not as thought that's likely."
-------------------------------Later, at the Battle Park....--------------------------------------
Dave stood at one end of a field, its surface divided by one huge lake in the middle. Smaller landmasses provided places for earthbound Pokemon to stand, as did some floating platforms in the actual lake. Branches of water led up to each end of the field, into which he'd be realeasing his Pokemon of choice. At the other end of the field, James stood, impassivly looking at his Vaporeon as she swam in the lake, before returning to his side.
A judge, employed by the Battle Park, walked to the side of the midpoint of the battlefield. "This one-on-one battle will now get underway! Each trainer will use one Water-type Pokemon! The battle is won when either sides Pokemon is unable to battle!" At this James' Vaporeon bounded forwards, obviously ready to battle. Dave looked at her, analysing her. She did indeed seem strong. This would be tough, as her Water Absorb ability would make any Water-type attacks usless, only healing her.
Dave then looked up at Yanmega, still perched on his head. "Hey, you. You've gotta go now." The Bug-type shook, not wanting to budge. "This is water-types only, which you are not. I may get in trouble if you stick around. Just hang around with Miranda and Croagunk, that ok?" Yanmega detached herself, flying over to perch on a tree branch above her trainers girlfriend, who she still wouldn't go near. Dave then looked at Miranda, flashing her a wink, before turning back to the battlefield.
He'd need the element of suprise here, to have his Pokemon attack without being seen or attacked back. Feraligatr was too large for this, so he moved to the next Poke Ball on his belt, which he brought round, enlarging as he did so. This one still had the black band ans white button in the middle, but was blue on the lower half. It was also blue on the upper half, but had a wave-like pattern, seperating it from some white colouration with a blue dot on the very top. Dive Balls were used for capturing Pokemon that normally lived in the deep ocean, and one such as that would be useful to Dave in this battle.
"Heads up!" he called, throwing the Dive Ball forwards, a dark-blue beam pouring out, into the depths of the lake. The Dive Ball returned to his hand, where he held onto it, as a shadow became visible on the lake's surface, showing that his chosen Pokemon was ready for battle......

Sitting nearby, Miranda watched excitedly as things began to get started for the battle. "This should be good..." she thought aloud, earning a croak of agreement from Croagunk and a snicker from Sableye, who was still perched atop the Poison-type's head. Yanmega, on the other hand, simply buzzed irritably, glaring back at Miranda when she glanced up at it. With a sigh, and after simply deciding that arguing the point wasn't much worth it at the moment, the blonde-haired trainer chose to instead return her attention to the impending battle, regardless of whether Yanmega liked it or not.

'Okay! BEGIN!' The Judge exclaimed. Something was lurking in the nearby water, something that was adept at submerged combat. James smiled, regardless of the Pokemon, he knew Vaporeon had few peers in an underwater battle. 'I guess I'll start us off then shall I?' James said. His Vaporeon walked on the surface of the lake and stood ready for a command. 'Vaporeon, dive under water! Meet this opponent face to face.' The Bubble Jet Pokemon allowed itself to break the surface of the water and went into the depths of the lake. There it came face to face with it's opponent. James raised an eyebrow when he was able to make out the Pokemon, 'That's...'
