Energy prices are the root to our problems, with higher gas prices makes it
-more expensive to get to and from work.
-more expensive to light and heat your home
-more expensive for companies to ship their products to destnations which calls for need to raise product price
Causing people to look for ways that are less pricey such as biking or walking if they can. Or people don't go on vacation as much and dont buy the big expensive vacation packages they USED to be able to afford.

I say people buying houses they can't afford but I think the banks are the ones to really blame. Greedy CEO's giving away 400,000 dollars like nothing so THEY can get paid millions of dollars... (bastards) and Bush is to blame for making loan regulations less strict dumbass.
WE young adults should be the most pissed off because our futures are basically being screwed and pissed upon because of some dumbassess mistakes!!

I voted for people buying houses they can't afford. Yes, the banks are partly to blame, but I wouldn't place it all on them. After all, they're trying to expand their businesses just like any other business would do. I am sure if it had been some other people controlling the banks, they would have done the same thing as well.
Tim - Well, Bush is a republican, so he is not used to regulating businesses. Funny thing is whenever the economy is NOT going bad, people don't complain, but when the economy finally breaks, people always blame the government for not solving a problem that nobody saw earlier.

I voted for government handouts, as it is the closest to what I feel... where's the all of the above option? I truly think it's a combination of them all.
If all those CEOs didn't get all that practically free money, And those damn Bush Tax Cuts, and the chance to screw over the people, we'd be better off. Don't get me wrong though, it is partially because of the home loans and the energy prices (which Bush could have fixed) that busted our economy.

No, the whole point of getting a new president is so that the new one can fix what the old one did wrong. Not that presidents should do anything wrong, besides, if it was Clinton's fault, how was he the only president in recent history to have a SURPLUS?

I heard from my economics teacher last year that it's like a perfect storm of events causing the low economic biorhythm--a lot of stuff coming at the same time and forcing it underwater. I'd say that's probably why there should be no one right solution to fix it.

Seriously, he gave tax cuts to the rich, and my mom now told me that her taxes only went up under Clinton because that's when my brother and I were born. She felt financially secure enough to have TWO children, UNDER CLINTON.

What's this tax cuts on the rich crap? THE RICH PAY 80% of our taxes!!!! And if you actually paid attention to the news you would've known that each and every tax payer receivd an equal of $600 back of your oh so great 'surplus'!!! And Bush invented the tax rebate which is when the governent gives every tax payer around $500 a year help jump back the economy.

Except LV, forget to notice the most recent WNBC/Marist polls? According to them, people are going for Obama. Why? He's practical, not to mention that McCain tried to go with the voter buyout route with making Palin his VP, but it backfired (and especially after Palin was mentioning her plan to make Creationalism taught in public school, which is a BIG NO-NO). Also, about Joe the Plumber; apparently, he owes about $5,000 in back taxes, which really just proves McCain is just scrounging for support. So, McCain created his own grave basically, and Obama had to go through a LOT of the bulls--- media (remember Rev. Jeremiah Wright?), so it's not like he's been treated unfairly nice by the press.

^ True, Rev. Jeremiah Wright gave Obama the spotlight, but it didn't really damage his campaign in the long run. There is very few negative press about Obama, or at least I haven't heard much of them anyways.
