Well I'd say that there is a good chance of Chimchar evolving all the way considering everything. But while they are compatible, Sceptile and Blaziken basically grew up together. So it would be far more symbolic of the shipping than any other pokemonxpokemon shipping that we could come up with for Ash and May.

Maybe, but maybe the writers don't see it the same way. They might see vineshipping as the most symbolic pokemon ship.

I just don't see how it would be, but I guess that's just my personal opinion. The way I see it, the growing up together fits the overall theme that Pokemon is representing, a coming of age story.

If you're talking about symbolism in that sense, then I guess you're right.

A hint I would like to see in the anime would be Ash's half of the terracotta ribbon on his person whilst traveling through Sinnoh. I guess something like him looking at it thoughtfully before Dawn asks him what it is or something like that. When it comes to contest ribbons, it's pretty much all Ash has, unofficial or otherwise. Even if Advanceshipping doesn't become canon, it would be a sweet nod to all its supporters.

And if Dawn sees the ribbon, its obvious she'll be asking tons of questions about it. Thus leading to the possibility of further hints. A nice cascade effect.

It is going to happen somewhere in their adventure through Sinnoh, I hope. There are many opportunities to bring it up. Though, it would only happen if Ash brought his ribbon with him; I hope he didn't forget it.

I doubt he has forgotten to bring it. After all, Ash is prone to keeping with him mementos of his friends(Brock's silverware, Misty's handkerchief and lure[?!]) to remember them by, right?

I wonder how he fits everything into his backpack. He keeps a fishing rod and a sleeping bag in it, and the strange thing is that it doesn't even bulge from the equipment.

I always thought of a way to unify Ash and May. Since they won the terracotta ribbon, Ash's Sceptile divided it into two halves one for each to keep. What I was planning to do, in a one shot marriage fic was have May's Blaziken hold the two halves together and with its heat, fuse them back as one again as a symbol of their new unity in marriage.

Nice idea to the both of you. The symbolism in that in connects on many levels and would make for a great story. Can't wait until either of you post that one.
