It'll be a while until I post because of slight modifications to my plot, and because I'm busy breeding my pokemon and doing school work.

Project Arceus takes up way too much time, and I just finished a one-shot in the Elite 4 Challenge thread. So it might be a while before my one appears as well.

One hint you can add: Takes place after the contest in "Win, Lose, or Drew" Ash wakes up in the middle of the night, he finds that May is silently crying away from everybody else. Ash gets up and walks over, "What's wrong May?" "I feel so terrible, his words cut real deep." "Terrible? Who's words?" "Drew, he cut me down after the appeal round." "But you were alright a few hours ago?" "I did that so i wouldn't look weak to him," "May..." Ash put his hand on her shoulder, May looked to him. "You shouldn't care what Drew says, never. It was your first contest and you did a great job not knowing what to do in the first place. You played well with the Frisbee, you tried your hardest." "But..." "Drew's probably been around as long as a coordinator as i have been a trainer. You've come a long way from having Torchic beaten by an Azurill just by running into a tree. So what if you lost? That just means more practice and you'll win next time. It's going to be all right." May wiped her tears, "Thank you Ash..."

Here's another hint I could think of, concerning the Terracotta ribbon, which led to part 2 of Sorry: In Johto, not just her rivals, but other fellow Coordinators inevitably ridicule May for her ruined ribbon. However, the latter persists, thinking of the ironic bond that the ribbon made with her best friend.

Again, about the half-ribbon, pursuing my made-up hint: May is given a number of rivals, almost half of them(Harley, definitely, maybe even Drew) who put her down on her Contest career. Don't you guys think that the writers should have had enough of putting May down themselves?

I think she needs a female rival who is like a friend. I've said it before and I'll say it again, they should have made Marina her rival! Or even Leaf from Pokemon Firered Leafgreen! I think she needs a Zoey type of rival.

Totally agreed with you there, especially because she now has an, "Ash vs. Gary/Paul," bias about rivals

Ash's rivalry with Gary =/= Ash's rivalry with Paul.
There is a BIG difference between the two. One is a more "settled down" rivalry, and the other is an "all fired up" rivalry.
Ash is getting some put down by mainly Paul, maybe more from to be announced characters.

The thing about Ash and Paul's rivalry it's a rivalry of contrasts and opposites. They have their own beliefs about how Pokemon should be trained and raised and they are almost complete opposites of each other.
Ash's rivalry with Gary seemed to stem more from a competitive rivalry beginning from when they were young kids. Gary was always a step ahead of Ash and Ash was more determined to defeat him and prove he wasn't behind. It was like a race of sorts, whereas with Paul their rivalry stems more from their own philosophical points of view. It won't die down as easily.
But back to my main point, May needs a female rival her own age, someone she can share a dream with and be in direct competition. A friendly rival, lord knows she needs one.

If it's just a hint, I'd do something like this: May wakes up from a nightmare she had after having her Eevee stolen by Team Rocket. Of course that attempt would fail, but imagine her dreaming about a bad ending. She wakes up, Ash giving her a concerned look. When May tells him about her dream, he'd say, "Don't worry, May. I will always protect you and your Pokemon. No one will ever hurt them...or you."

A kiss or a hug would do nicely for me, although perhaps some dramatic moment where Ash saves May's life would be good.
