Not to mention the large amount of cheers that would be coming from the Advanceshipping and Appealshipping communities. Very nice NN.

Popularity: Pokeshipping +800 fics contestshipping +500 fics Advanceshipping appprox 400 Ikarishipping + 200 fics Pearlshipping approx 100
all numbers for the other shippings were found using the search tool, and will most likely have more fics under the ship.
Shows how big we are...

At least we’re kind of catching up to Contestshipping. But overall, it isn’t very surprising. Pokeshipping was the first major Pokemon ship (Palletshipping aside), so it’s only natural that it’d have the most. And then considering the fact that a lot of Pokeshippers are also Contestshippers, then it seems natural that they’d have the second-highest amount.

No matter what we are also at least big enough not to be taken down all that easily too. Poke and Contestshipping can try all they want to overshadow us but we hold a firm third place. But if you would only consider a person's primary shipping and no secondary the numbers might be enough in our favor to pull into second, in front of the little Contestshippers.

^ Yeah, that makes sense. Often, those fics will have mainly PokeShipping, with ContestShipping included, or vice-versa. I agree, if it was just about the MAIN ship, there would be a lot less of both.

Well for one, it's hard to actually know how many of them there are. and seeing as the c2 has around 50% more we can get a good guess on what the real numbers are.
I mean take Ikarishipping, already half way to our margin, (regardless of the amount of poke/contest/ikar fics there are)
IT's kindof disheartning, as well as how little Pearl fics there are (seeing as I read them when theirs no Advance, which is turning out to be more and more often now a days)

And so what if ikarishipping has half of ours? And pearlshipping has half of that. Who cares? Like Lucifer said, we're strong and we can take it. Plus, its not like ALL ikarishippers are contest/pokeshippers. And it's not like ALL contestshippers like pokeshipping and vise versa. I always feel weird when you guys pull ikarishipping in.

It's not that I have anything against Ikari, it's just that Ikari is a new ship, a lot newer to Advance, coming about the same time as Pearl, and has more than half of what we've done. and out of all the Advanceshipping fics out there, there are close to none that update reguarly. The only exception bieing Dryuu.
There is that nagging feeling that we are bieing put on the shelf like Poke, regardless of our DP Eps. I'm not speaking in the ways of a debate where we fight, more in the way of bieing able to find some great authours with new material.

The only exception bieing Dryuu. I know what you mean, and yeah, Ikari is new and so is pearl. And yes we do have people who don't update regularly. We do need that. But what good are we doing if we just sit here and complain bout it? I can't because my computer still is freaking out when I go onto FF.net (I have tried to add some stuff but it just gets spit back and reveiwing's hard too.), so until my computer settles or something I can't do anything.
That's the thing. We are being put on the shelf. That's what happens to shippings on shows like pokemon, where one character gets sent away. A new one comes and the cycle repeats. I can live with it. I seriously can. Ima pretty happy from the ikarishipping Ima getting and other shippings. Like my 7th grade History teacher said: If you didn't vote on the president, then don't complain, because you made no effort to stop this or to further it. It's the same with the authors. Dryuu's trying and we're not, so let's not complain. Because only a few people here have the perfect rights to do so.

I think narutoninja oes have a point--that shippings being moved to the shelf is an inevitability. I think the only reason Pokeshipping has been so resistant compared to Advanceshipping is because it was the first one to come about (though speaking strictly on merit, I'm surprised that Advanceshipping isn't more popular) I'll admit guilt in my very slow update rate >_> As for possible solutions, perhaps some way to engage the entire forum in fanfiction and having them post what they've done on fanfiction.net? If we could gather enough people, there would be a sudden influx of Ash/May, and maybe we'd get lucky by pulling a few new members in by listing this forum in the author notes. There are a number of challenge styles that can be used. -20 Truths. It's a format that came aboot via LJ, and while I'm not really a fan of it, some people find it easy to work with. -30 days. A one-shot which is supposed to cover, one way or another, the span of 30 days between two characters. -Word prompts. This can either be done for prompting a one-shot, or there can be a few prompts leading to a small chaptered work. -Kink meme. Yes, I went there. On livejournal, they have them for different fandoms. You name the two (or more) people and a kink (or several) and then someone writes a oneshot about it. It's usually done anon, but we could make an exception to that here. -Collabs. If one person is worried about starting a story on their own, they can partner up with someone. -Mentor/Apprentice. If someone is new to fanfiction or worried that their sills aren't up to snuff, then perhaps one of the more 1337 writers can work together with them on something. -Additional community pimpage. One way to increase activity would simply be to draw in new members. There are a few places to promote this place. Pokemon forums on fanfiction.net, Livejournal communities, other forums where it is allowedm PM's sent to Advanceshipping authors who might be interested in coming... Or a more subtle way would be to leave an advanceshipping fic a review stating casually somewhere that you were led to their fic from this forum (it was a rec'd fic) - ? -Profit! That is all.
