I say sadly because it seems that they are so pathetic that they have to resort to violence

Well as I said before, most of their evidence is based off of the roses. The 9th movie is one of our best sources of hints, of course they're going to go nuts over it. If you ignore all the contestshipping "hints" that contain Drew giving a rose to May, you aren't left with much at all. Heck it wouldn't even really be enough to call it a probable shipping.

To the defense of this ship, Gary wasn't so much 'scared' of Dawn. She just got very excited about Pokemon senryu's (Haiku, poems that have three verses, five syllables, then seven syllables then five syllables). Those little poems Professor Oak does at the end of every Japanese episode. When Brock told Dawn that Gary was Oak's grandson, she got excited and asked him if he knew any poetry. Gary had no idea what she meant because he doesn't do that sort of thing, hence his puzzled/awkward look. At the end of the episode where Gary appeared, he said farewell to Ash and Dawn got excited again because the way he said his goodbye was five syllables, then seven, then five. She does that whenever Professor Oak speaks as well, she picks up on stuff like that. This bit was cut from the english dub. When Gary said he was going to create a diversion and help Ash battle Pokemon Hunter J, Dawn was reluctant for him to leave her, she reached out for him as well, before Brock made her get a grip and help Brock and the Shieldon escape.
I think this ship has potential, moreso than showoffshipping, simply because Max and Dawn have never met. Dawn is older than Max as well, so I don't think it would work... Unless Max contracts Soap Opera Rapid Aging Syndrome. Dawn looks like the type to be into older men anyways, just how her personality comes across. I think Cavaliershipping would start off one sided, but I think Gary would warm up to Dawn and really care for her. I have no evidence of this, it's all just speculation.

Easy they are threatened because we are the biggest threat to their ships. Sadly I was also wondering if anyone else noticed that both got more aggresive after The 9th movie I call this movie, the Pokeshipping/Contestshipping Killer. I am willing to bet this is every Advanceshipper's favourite Pokemon movie.

Actually, I watched the English version, but it was still obvious that Dawn is fond of poetry. So I don't think anything was cut. I mentioned this already in this thread, on the first page. Yes, the ninth movie is my favorite.

Actually, I watched the English version, but it was still obvious that Dawn is fond of poetry. So I don't think anything was cut. There were two bits that were cut from the english version (at least from what I witnessed on Australian television, i don't know if it happened elsewhere. - The very end of the Shieldon episode, when Gary parts ways with Ash. Dawn suddenly realises Gary made a Poem about him and Ash meeting again. Then she says she wouldn't expect any less from Prof Oak's grandson. - When Ash obtained Chimchar, they cut the part where Ash spoke to Prof Oak and had Chimchar on one shoulder and Pikachu on the other. Oak said for Ash and Chimchar to work hard together and signed off, then Dawn realised he did a senryu about Ash and Chimchar working together. I get it though, that she's already a fan of this stuff and that it was established in the english dub. But there was extra to it that was cut on Australian tv.

Saw that part, but I don't remember if the second point you made happened. It might have, but it slipped by my mind.
I live in the U.S so we might still have some scenes that were cut from where you live.

This ship is one of the best in my view. Besides I personally doubt you'll see her paired with Max

I still say either Zoey or Gary

I didn't think pokemon would include homosexuality until Harley came along, so Zoey could be a possible candidate for Dawn, though it may be unlikely. The two male candidates so far that could be paired up with Dawn are Gary and Kenny.

The Japanese are strange in that sense, James and Harley may dress like women from time to time, but in Japanese culture that does not make them gay. It apparently denotes vanity and narcissism more than anything else. It's really bizarre and it doesn't transcend the cultural barrier between Japanese and Western culture very well. A milder form of James and Harley would be Drew. If it was a tier it'd be Harley at the top, James in the Middle and Drew at the bottom in terms of flamboyance. I mean, we see a guy in a dress, we think GAY. Over there, not so much.

Have you guys actually seen some of the magazines that come out of Japan? There are times when its virtually impossible to tell male from female, and yet they are still straight. One of my roommates can sometimes boarder on obsession with those things.
But you are right elite4james, their view of homosexuality is different than ours. As most of you know there are several parts clipped in the English version due to the difference in these views. But the funny thing is that teenage Japanese boys are deathly afraid of the notion that they are gay.
