Yes, that does make sense. Also, consider the fact that Satoshi Tajiri and Kunihiko Yuyama, the director of not only the movies, but also some of the series, especially Pocket Monsters and Pocket Monsters: Advanced Generation, work very closely together on the plot for each movie. Therefore, it is safe to assume that the anime and the movies are tied, even when not apparent.

I would have to say that it would happen in a movie, as along with the other points presented in this thread, it would be more likely for a movie to touch on such mature issues.
I have a question though, if Satoshi and Haruka became an item, what do you think Kasumis reaction would be?

Well, I think Misty(?) would sorta be like "Oh my gosh, I can't believe that dense kid I knew actually learned something about love."

^ Yeah, I think she'd say something along those lines as well. At this point, I don't really believe she'd react in a jealous or angry manner towards the news.

Now maybe if it was back when, and she hadn't stopped traveling with them... maybe she'd be jealous. Almost everyone accepts that Misty had a crush on Ash or somehting similar

Well considering the fact that at one point she was even saying that she would marry Ash its hard to contest the fact that she once had a crush on him. At least it has seemed to pass as of the Advance Generation.
But as for the question I would have to agree that Misty would just be surprised at the fact that he was finally able to understand even the simplest ideas of love. I doubt that there is really anything left but friendship between the two.

Like everyone else says, she will be surprised, then she would poke fun at Ash.

Okay, I've heard tale of an episode (supposedly Christmas) in which Ash and May lean in to kiss, and then it cuts out. If this episode really happened, is it cannon, and would it prove AdvanceShipping, or do you believe that it was some sort of "friendship" or spur of the moment thing.
Yes, that's an AdvanceShipping question, although it might belong in the hints debate.

Well, if that had happened, then it would definitely be a canon hint. Most friends (IMO) don't typically just lean in to kiss each other unless there's at least some sort of romantic or crush-type feelings between the two of them. And a spur-of-the-moment kiss seriously just doen't sound plausible for Ash and May somehow.
That said, I'm almost a million percent sure that no episode like that ever actually aired, or probably will ever air. I'm sure it's just another one of those rumors. I've also heard the same sort of rumor about an episode where Ash and Misty kiss. That, too, is, of course, just a rumor as well.

Actually, I have a feeling that I know the fanart that is responsible for all this confusion. I posted it on Serebii's old AdvanceShipping Discussion a bit before it closed.

Okay, I just wanted it to exist SO MUCH! *cry* And it seemed reasonable for it to be a LOST EPISODE

^ Maybe one of those "lost" episodes will air at the epilogue of the show, then we'll know who Ash is with. Here's a question. If Ash died, how would it affect May's contest career?

I think she'd sorta be to depressed to compete for a while. Then, after a while, she'd dedicate her contests to Ash, but would be to distracted to win. After she accepts his death, she'd be better than ever.
