So, not too sure who here has seen about the new interview, but something interesting pertaining Misty's character was said: So anyway, now that what a lot of us probably already assumed anyway has now been confirmed--she’s not coming back to the main cast--how does this effect what chances Pokeshipping still had (assuming there were still any left at all)? As the title of the thread says, is this finally no longer a viable threat?

Well in terms of the shows genre we more than likely won't really have a true cannon relationship with Ash by the end of the series unless they do the Digimon thing and just have a quick blip of what the future for them will be. So I will say that there is still the chance that they are a threat but this has greatly reduced it. The number one threat from this shipping was the fact that there was the canon crush that Misty had on Ash (thus leading to the large shipping base), but with an extended lack of contact between the two the crush can easily fade. The best chance that they had of reviving the shipping was for Misty to return, and this stops that one in its tracks.
At least we don't have to worry about the Pokeshippers consistently saying that Misty will be back and travel with Ash in the next season. So their hints are basically at a complete standstill, and idle shippings can only go downwards.

^ Yea, you have a point about the possible 'no ship ending.' Well, in a way it would kinda suck if that happened, because obviously then no one would ever actually be validated in their shipping beliefs. However, if they do go the Digimon route, it could either be a blessing or a curse. *thinks of the Matt/Sora ending and cringes* Yea, I'm probably never gonna get over that happening.

This also concerns us as well, because the writers axe May as a main character, permanently.
THE PERSON SHOULD ASK ABOUT SHIPPING!!!

This also concerns us as well, because the writers axe May as a main character, permanently. THE PERSON SHOULD ASK ABOUT SHIPPING!!! Well, I don't know if/when there will be another interview, but even when there is, I doubt that this person (or any other person working for the show for that matter) would concern themselves with answering a question about shipping. And if anything, they'd most definitely decline to answer such a question simply due to the trouble that could be stirred up by various sides of the fandom if any one shipping was mentioned in-particular. But as far as May goes, I don't think we should assume that she too will get the axe simply because she isn't a part of the main cast anymore. I mean, even if the new chronicles show information isn't accurate, the fact remains that May--unlike Misty, I'm sorry to say--was an actual main character, meant to be right up there on the same status as Ash as far as story and plot progression is concerned. In other words, while Misty was there either babying Togepi, getting annoyed with Psyduck, arguing with Ash, and/or cheering him along in his battles from the sidelines, May actually had--and still has--a storyline being followed. Misty is at the Cerulean City gym, being the gym leader, like she's supposed to be, while May's character still has plenty of character development potential, be it in the rumored new chronicles show or in more cameo appearances. So, my point is, we shouldn't just jump to the conclusion that once you're written out of the main Ash-centric cast that you're written out of main character status for good.

Maybe you're right.
The friendly rivalry between Dawn and May should be a good sign that she won't be axed.

I looked at the article, and he said that he would be able to start talks of another interview somewhere later that week, outside of Anime Expo. And, we're talking about Masamitsu Hidaka here, the former director until Battle Frontier. It probably is right that what he says is confirmed, so I guess a lot of fans will be dissapointed.

Well, since the Title is "Is this no longer a threat" I say no. The most threat I've seen was a slight bias on Bulbapedia's Gisselle page that I cleared up.

Well, I must say that Pokeshipping is still a threat, but it's chances have decreased greatly. The biggest threat right now is Contestshipping, but we should still look out for those Pokeshippers.

Indeed, nice to meet you, and please introduce yourself.
Anyway, Tim has a point... they're probably just gonna have him marry some random girl, have everyone else marry random people too, except Brock, who will probably go back to Ivy.... maybe,....

Like Aoi, which, in my eyes. is actually starting to look VERY legit. Not to mention Anabel, Casey, Macey, and even possibly Zoey (yes, I am a FireRedShipper. Blame Rave the Rich =P).
