That is one concern. Would you call the shippings as "unexpected"? I mean, most of the target audience is comprised of kids aged 12 and below.

So was Digimon and take a look at the end of the first season, they made the final pairings for that one even though the target audience was for young teens. That topic we've explored quite well when the site was still young and these two were the best comparisons for it. Although as much I might want otherwise I personally believe that they will leave the ending quite ambiguous in terms of what happens later in life.
Personally I don't know how much more they can milk out of Pokemon, it's been going on for over a decade and there are some people still are paying attention to everything about it. They've already reached a point where it can only get repetitive and that's about it. But as long as it's continuing to make them money they'll keep making more of it. And if there is another season there will be yet another new girl to replace Dawn while Brock will somehow make it though and Team Rocket will continue to pursue a fruitless dream. (Yes I know that this is off topic but it had to be said)

Another to replace Dawn? We have too many girls now. Another one will just add another set of shippings to the roster.

^ True. But the writers for the show don't care about that at all. They'll still design new girl characters for the show to coincide with the new girl character in the latest game to help promote it.

Also, the writers dont care if their repettive. They don't care if they loose their old audience for being repetitive, they'll just get younger peeps to notice the show and they'll take over from there. The pokemon anime is an endless cycle. =P

Is the female character always the manipulated variable? Because I've been seeing Ash and Brock as the constant ones right from the very beginning. You think that either one of them should leave to make room for another? (Well since Ash is the main character, he can't possibly be removed so that leaves Brock).

IMO, someone like Jun should replace Brock, but that just...doesn't seem to ever happen.

You never got complaints when Brock was removed, so why didn't they just get rid of him in the first place?

^They only got rid of Brock back before Kanto because they got to many warnings and banned episodes. they were scared that they might get a racial promblem since Brock is black. (no offence) so they took him out and introduced Tracey. when they saw that they didn't get any warnings they just dumped Tracey in Pallet town and put Brock back in.

A lot of junior high and high school students in Japan love Pokemon. They repeat the cycle of the show because it's a successful formula that works. So each generation of Japanese kids enjoys Pokemon. This current generation of young kids have only known Pikachu and Piplup, as opposed to just Pikachu like when we first started watching. For the record Brock is not black. Though he is of darker skin, there are many Japanese with dark skin. This misconception is what made the Pokemon anime take a turn and add Tracey to make the anime more 'accessible' to western audiences. Brock was only returned to the show due to popular demand. Personally I think Brock has overstayed his welcome on Pokemon and has become a very boring background character. IMO, someone like Jun should replace Brock, but that just...doesn't seem to ever happen. FINALLY! Someone agrees with me. I have been a huge fan of the idea of a Ash, Dawn and Jun trio. Brock needs to follow in Misty's footsteps and retire.

Then without Brock, Ash and Dawn would be starving by now XD.
BTW, we're going off topic again. XDD.

When I was a kid, I thought he was Mexican. How racist of me.
