The one thing that everyone can talk about because his/her country is participating.
Those four - Stormburst, C.Gholy, Dave, and Strwbrry - will be missing quite a bit from the Olympics.
...And for those who were worried about something bad or dangerous happening, I told ya' so. ;D
If the procession of the opening ceremony meant anything, there is nothing to worry about.

I saw a little bit of the opening ceremony and it was impressive. As for my country Australia looks strong for gold but not as strong as previous Olympics. The swimming was Australia's best hope but since Ian Thorpe retired our gold metal tally will certainly drop.

I'm just surprised Bush actually went to the opening ceremony. First U.S. president to do so on forum turf.

^ You should at least see the opening ceremony; whether or not you like the sports, it's still amazing.

Saw it and it was a nice show, like it's supposed to be. Scratch that, it was a BRILLIANT SHOW.
But things arn't exactly 100% peachy, I'd say.

I will say that the Chinese put a lot into the opening ceremony. But while it was very visually impressive it kinda got a bit repetitive and lets just say that I was glad that I had my laptop to split my attention between the two.
Oh well, at least its times like these that I'm glad I payed the extra money for an HD receiver and TV.

I'll be missing some of it, yeah but from what I've seen it sounds pretty good. Don't you find it ironic Bejing started on the 8/8/08. They think that 8 brings prosperity.

"Americans? We will smash them. That's what we came here for."
These were the words that the French had to eat when they lost to the U.S in swimming.

Yay for the Olympics being in my second homeland (Taiwan being my first, but since my grandparents were from China, I'm still mostly Chinese).
Anyway, U.S. seems to be dominating at swimming, at least from what I saw today. Phelps placing 1st in 200m freestyle, Natalie Coughlin placing 1st in 100m backstroke, and Aaron Piersol placing 1st in 100m backstroke.
Now for anybody who's watched any Artistic Gymnastics, how old do you think those Chinese women (or rather, girls) really are? There's been a lot of controversy about if they changed their ages or anything, and quite frankly, to me, some look like they are definitely under 16 (16 being the minimum age to compete in the Olympics), perhaps even being as young as 12.
After all, I am like one of them.

The only event they've really been showing at the moment on Japanese TV is the Judo, because Japan won 3 Gold Medals in it. Contrary to previous Olympics I have watched back in Australia, where Olympic coverage was near dominated by Swimming.
