No man here thinks more highly than I do of the fine gentlemen who have agreed that the death penalty is right. But since when taking another mans life is right? We have absolutely no right to kill a fellow brethren. Humans cannot and should not end someone's life based on their crimes. Have human civilization not evolved from such barbarian practices? No wise man has said that it is right to kill a man because of what he did wrong. But I have heard a wise man say "two wrongs doesn't make a right". (Puffs)

The death penalty actually goes against two basic human rights
(according to amnesty international)

Doesn't murdering other people without a reason, or a minor reason such as relationship problems also go against some human rights? And the reason why I think that we can use death penalty without God getting mad at us, is because I don't believe in him (but I respect those who do).
Maybe I should make my thoughts about death penalty a little bit more clear. I think we should only use it when there is no other way. I don't think that we should use it when it pleases us, like if someone stole your purse or robbed a bank. A few years ago there were two people in Copenhagen who fought over a hat because they both wanted it, one of them got killed. In this situation I don't that the one who killed the other should get death penalty, only if he/she started to like killing other people and continued to kill, even then if there's another way I think it should be used instead of death penalty.

^ Lol, that's ironic considering what your screen name represents.
Anyways I get your point: Kill only if he/she is too dangerous to arrest.
Tim - Though I SOMEWHAT agree that 2 wrongs do not make a right, maybe you should consider a more fair and just method...I'll discuss it later when I have the time.

heh, I knew someone would refer to my little texts. I love killing and slaughtering, but only i games and movies because I know it ain't real. I am a bloodthirsty deathseeking Khorne worshipping lunatic when it comes to games, when it comes to real life I'm not like that. I'm more like "I think world peace and all people getting along would be nice, but I now it ain't gonna happen for a very long time or if it happens at all".

This question is rather old, but it's funny about how logical and true it is:
"Why do people kill people who kill people to show people that killing people is bad?"
It's ironic, now that I think about it.

It's not ironic, it's simple, they brought it upon themselves. An eye for an eye. And a life for a life

I say the two aren't mutually exclusive. You know, simple and ironic at the same time.

Well think about it this way...
...in this world, there are homeless people who risk freezing to death during the winter, dehydrating and suffering a heatstroke during the summer, and starving from lack of food.
What did they do to deserve it?
Before anyone says that homeless people should go and find a job, know that many homeless people are senior citizens living off of welfare and pensions, or nothing at all.
Why should criminals be the ones to receive food and shelter?
Isn't it twisted to let criminals fatten themselves up while the homeless, who have committed no crime, starve (or freeze) to death?
When I said that death penalty is justified, I did not necessarily mean shooting the criminal in the head or anything similar, it could be something as simple as not giving he/she food.

I say an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.
but Prator, I don't think that any pensioner would like to go to a prison. They're not exactly palaces where society caters for prisoners every whim, it is there so that they can reform their lives and be reintroduced as normal citizen.

My point wasn't that we should put the homeless pensioners in prison. My point is that criminals should not be cared for as much as the homeless. I know prison is not the ideal place to live, but at least the habitants must be fed, clothed, etc.

Before long, it's possible that the homeless will figure out that if they start committing crimes, they'll be granted prison access and actually have shelter. It's funny...being rewarded for a bad deed.
