Keep in mind things such as keeping that ribbon, whilst not a big deal in western culture can be seen as significant in Japanese culture as feelings are hidden more often and things such as hugs and kisses are a huge deal, even if it is just a peck on the cheek. Something we should add to Bulbapedia and Advanceshipping wiki.

Well Dave I did like French, but Japanese is better. Come to think of it I've had a smattering of at least 4 foreign language classes, including one dead language. Besides not everyone here has had a class in French and knows its difficulty, in fact as you probably know in America Spanish is usually taught as the second language instead of French like it is in Britain. My real problem with French was that I kept on wanting to say Spanish words in place of the French ones. Stupid romantic languages being so similar.
As for the writing, Kanji is that hard one. Hiragana and Katakana work just like the Roman script in the fact that if you put characters together they form words. And the characters aren't all that hard to learn.

I understood the latter of what you said: May could have just done the contest in Johto instead of Sinnoh. What? I meant this part: I was countering the bolded sentence. I already understand this part.

And now we know another part of the reason that she traveled that far north to Snowpoint, it was because she heard about evolving Eevee into a Glaceon and wanted to use her in the Johto festival.

^ We need some way of proving that her trip is partly because of Ash to support Advanceshipping. Ashfangirl: There maybe more to come! Why don't you introduce yourself in the Arrivals and Departures thread so that other members could know you. As we all should expect, there is resistance from the Advanceshipping thread in Serebii to the new episode: One could say that May is invigorated by the ribbon because of the encouragements she received from Brock, Max, and Ash. While Brock and Max contributed some encouragement, it was Ash who encouraged May the most. Anyone remember the donphan episode? So May remembers more of the times when Ash cheers her on than the times when Brock and Max cheered her on; and that gave May the strength or invigoration to get through Johto. Any more help would be great; especially in listing off the episodes where Ash encouraged May the most.

While for the most part that person on the Serebii thread was right, its not entirely true. While there was no blushing (not sure where they would have gotten that from), the fact that May actually asked Ash if he still had the ribbon out of the blue like that means that she considers it important. As James said there is a difference in the Japanese and Western culture in terms of what is socially acceptable in terms of affection. So just the reasoning that she holds onto it and considers it as a good luck charm means that she thinks of the times past. Yet it was Ash that split the ribbon with her, so even if it can remind her of Max and Brock (Satoshi-tachi) the first person that would naturally come to mind would be Ash. It is even slightly emphasized by him being the one referred to in front of everyone else. So with May holding on to the ribbon like that means that she does think of him quite often, and cherishes those memories.
And you are right Praetor, while Max and Brock did cheer for her in the contests it was almost always Ash that cheered for her both in and out of the contests. Again saying that Ash would be the first to come to mind.
Was that reply from a fellow Advanceshipper or was it a Poke or Contestshipper?

That we won't even learn about until the next episode. There wasn't even a shot with Ash and May in costume together.

Yes, it is also a 1 hour special, so we get DP 077 and DP 078. Then a week off with no Pokemon. Then DP 079.

Some people (in particular the contestshippers and pokeshippers) have said that the ribbons that Ash and May brought out has no romantic feelings attached to it, but wasn't there an episode where a girl dreamed of winning a contest with a boy that she loves and splitting the ribbon? I think she became jealous when May talked to that boy, and no the boy is not Drew.
I forgot the name of the episode, so can anyone list it?
