I think something terribles gonna happen at the Beijing Olympics. China's been improving their military and you know it's for a reason. I'm afraid that there going to do something.
Anyopne else getting the same gut feeling?

I wouldn't be worried.
I'm sure that China knows that if they do anything the world does not like, then the Olympics will be suspended.

I'm scared too. You know, China is well respected around the world...but with this whole Tibet fiasco, I'm becoming 'not-so-sure' on the situation.
Although I hope everything turns out perfectly fine.

Are you afraid that China's military will attack everyone or are you afraid that there will be an accident in the Olympics? (i.e terrorist attack)

^ Thank you. Not only that, but it will bring ruin to China's reputation. Why would China want the Olympics to be suspended? As I've said earlier, they wouldn't dare do something the world wouldn't like. The violence in China did not start from the military; it was started by the Tibetans that rioted. The military responded AFTER civilians and police officers were being killed, privately owned cars and public cars were destroyed, and buildings were burned down. So China did have a reason for using the military. The government doesn't want to pick on the monks; even the Dalai Lama said it himself. He revealed that even the government officials hoped for better communication between them. It's the rioters that the government are mainly targeting against. The Dalai Lama did NOT want Tibet to break away from China. Wikipedia article about the Tibet conflict: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2008_unrest_in_Tibet#Violence_and_protests_in_Lhasa

This was true in the past, but with China on the rise to prominence, they know that more attention is being payed to them (i.e the Olympics), and that doing something wrong will bring ruin to them; which they do not want.
So to summarize it, China is going to change to keep being important in the world. Even the Dalai Lama of Tibet says that it would be beneficial for Tibet to be with China because it make Tibet more modernized and important; among other advantages as well.

The only thing I'm worried about is that a new sprot wil come out.
Who dose best to do to put the torch out?
I'm with the person who ran out to the street with a Fire extinguisher.
Who's takin' bets?
Other than that on a serious note. I just find it v wierd how the torch is going straight through Tibet.

I'm against the protests. China is moving up there in the world. The Olympic Games are the type of PO that they need. Remeber the Tokyo Olympics in 1964? Look at what that did.
A war is inevitable. Germany and England were trade partners, however as Germany began to evolve World War I started and the two trade parters were now at each other's throats. China and the US will ultimately see a conflict, and withdrawing from the Olympics will only result in a bloodier war.

I have to agree with Sarge on this. It seems the US is heading towards a war that will cost both sides a lot of money and many lives

There will be no militairy action during the Olympics, that's for sure. Why? Because China wanted the Olympics only so it could show the world that this communist country is very well to it's people, have good leadership etc. Like the way Hitler used the Olympics in (what was it?) 1938 I believe. I think he's thinking something more along China's military, and it will NEVER happen, or else China knows they will be nuked. No, nukes won't be used, cause it would have a domino-effect. Besides that, no country wants to be the first to use a nuke, it's not really good for your reputation you know... And there have been made international treaties about this, so no, it won't happen. ^ Thank you. Not only that, but it will bring ruin to China's reputation. Why would China want the Olympics to be suspended? As I've said earlier, they wouldn't dare do something the world wouldn't like. Wikipedia article about the Tibet conflict: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2008_unrest_in_Tibet#Violence_and_protests_in_LhasaI agree with some parts of your post, but I do believe China is unrightfully present in what used to be Tibet, and therefore protest are justified. And I think it's highly debateable, your point of China not using violence to Tibetans before the riots started. Tibetans and their culture have been suppressed for over half a century now, and thinhs like torturing still happen over there.
