Why won't May return? It's called marketing, what better way to sell a product than by having an anime based on it? This includes in-game characters, i.e. Dawn in the Diamond & Pearl Saga.

Okay so how did we end up talking about fanart? Hmm... you seem a bit slow. It was never about the fanart, it was about what the characters would be like had they aged, which ties in to the topic of 'after sinnoh' considering it takes place in a passage of time. Time, which serves as a medium for lives to progress and be chronicled, which henceforth ties into the idea of what will happen after Sinnoh.

SLOW AND STEADY WINS THE RACE! ;D Besides how do we know Satoshi keeps Ash at a ten year old age. I mean that's just weird.

Hmm... Just a long shot. But fact that it's NOT REAL seems to be a large piece of supporting evidence.

Ash has to be at least Thirteen by now. I think I saw someone post the years Ash spent in each region I think it went like this:
Kanto - 1 year.
Orange Islands - 2-3 months. (It was only 36 episodes)
Johto - (2 Years judging from the amount of filler from it. The second season of Johto ended before Ash even had his third badge)
Hoenn and Kanto (2 and a half years)
Sinnoh - (Estimated One year)
So Ash is like 15 or 16

well if you added 10 years from the day he started he is actually 22 or 23 years old right now. lol. in our world of course.
But in the show i think he is about 15 years old.

In the show he is 10-11. People like the idea of him being 15 because they are that age.

Apparently, there are two theories about aging:
Eternal youth
One common theory is that, like in many cartoons, the characters never age and are trapped at the age of their first appearance. However, this seems strange since the passage of time is pointed out every once in a while without the mention of any character's birthday. It is even more questionable that the anime has directly pointed out years of time passing. One of the most common supports for this theory is that Ash and May are supposedly the same age when May begins her journey, even though Ash has traveled through three regions and competed in their leagues before she received her first Pokémon. This is also the case when Dawn starts her journey, as she is the same age as Ash, though he has been through five regions this time (including Kanto twice). This is easier to believe in the Japanese version, where all characters have retained mostly the same voice. However, in the English dub, many characters have had their voice change over time, especially Ash, whose voice has become noticeably deeper over the seasons.
Slowed time
Another common theory is that, because only one half-hour episode airs approximately each week, the flow of time in the anime is considerably slower than in real life. This theory is supported by the apparent, though minimal, growth of the characters, as well as the noted marks of time. The common estimate is that three real years translates to one year in the anime. However, this theory still faces the same problems as the Eternal Youth theory.
