Why is this ship BETTER than all other ships, in your own opinion.

Well I just find it more interesting. There's a cuteness factor and a blend. I think Ash and May would blend well together as a couple. May is my favorite character and I tend to ship the main character with my favorate characters. So Ash is the main character and May is my favorite character, therefore advanceshipper I am.

May and Ash have a lot of similarities as characters, but not so many that it becomes creepy. They also have good temperaments that serve to compliment each other well in a relationship. As of their current age, they won't see each other in that romantic sense. I'm sure May might a little because Ash is very brave and puts others before himself. Ash won't have a clue. But I think if the story was to continue and they age, I think Ash would start to like May a lot more as a teenager. Combine that with May liking Ash's heroism and good nature, I think something could seriously blossom between the two of them, no doubt in my mind.

I really like this ship for many reasons, one because it is cute, second it is totally awesome, and third it doesn't get any better than this.
(I also wanted to annoy my brother by supporting this ship because he used to be a pokeshipper, but all the other reasons really overpower this one.)

I like this ship because it makes the most sense. Looking at it relationship wise i tend to lean towards the mentor/student kind of thing with Ash & May. Not to mention the fact that they do have several similarities. To me, advshipping is the greatest because May is my favorite character and so is Ash so I'm playing matchmaker and it actually makes sense. (for once)

Because Ash and May seem to have the only relationship that won't end out in a divorce if they one day are married. The only succesful relationships in todays world are the ones where the Man is the head of the Relationship. Misty feels to boss Ash around like a powertrip-ing sister. Dawn keeps Ash on even ground like a Twin sister. Drew seems like a player (we all know he is) once he finds a girl thats prettier than May he'll ditch her faster than Bradd Pitt ditched his wife for Angelina Jolie

^ I agree with all the points above but one. I like it better if a relationship does not have a dominant "head". It just seems too restrictive for the other person in the relationship. Ash is not normally the person to boss other people around, so it is likely that he will not become the "head" of the couple.
Ash is a person who likes to listen to other people's opinions, and work with them.

And besides the fact that virtually anything Ash says can get on Misty's nerves wouldn't help that marriage in the end either. At least with Ash and May they work well together and are similar enough that they won't have any major fights. Both are laid back and non-confrontational, so neither will really try to push their opinion too far on the other. And with both of them striving for different goals of the same caliber, each can reach their own goal without interfering with the other, thus helping to keep any fights between them down even further.

The relationship between Ash and May evolved from teacher/student one to one with a cooperative mutual ground. You're right, Ash doesn't appear to really take charge often, he prefers to go with the flow for the most part.

I don't think we should view the relationship between Ash and May as one of teacher and student. It sounds like dividing the two by a LARGE generation gap.
I view it more of a successful peer helping out another of his peer. Ash gives May tips on pokemon, but he doesn't teach everything about them. It is almost the same way as a student in a class helping another student with whatever subject they are studying.
For example, if a student needs help with math, and another student knows the concept and is able to help the student, then it can be viewed the same way as Ash helping May when they first STARTED OUT together.

I guess Ash can be considered May's senpai then.

I think that that would be a better way to look at it, at least that way it sounds like that they are still roughly the same age. Although the mentor/student still doesn't seem too bad to me.

Whoops, guess it helps if other people know the Japanese terms as well, sorry bout that guys.
Senpai is a Japanese term, usually used as an honorific, that roughly means "upperclassman." Its hard to explain it beyond that, in these terms think of it as a student teaching another student. If anyone else wants to add to it be my guest, I can't really think of anything else for it.
