-Well, I've written "extensions" of my other mainline fictions on this site, so why not do one on this as well?
DISCLAIMER: I don't own Megaman X, Zero, or the characters.
NOTES:
-The timeline is after the Zero series(right after my work NWiS, so read that first), but the characters portrayed are mainly from X.
-Although I frequently describe Cyberworld(I also call it Space) as an afterlife of sorts for Reploids, I imagine they continue "everyday living" there.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"No, no, NO! How many times do I have to tell you, Axl, it's just not possible!" This voice rang throughout the dwelling of famed Maverick Hunters Axl and Megaman X. It was the latter who shouted out those words, which can be heard from the streets below.
"They're at it again, aren't they?" Sigma, who was working on the construction site nearby, asked Alia, who got out of the apartment to relieve herself of the insane arguments Axl and X were having.
"Yes, they are," she said sternly, shaking her head in disbelief. "You'd think by now that Axl learned his lesson..."
"I think that," Sigma said thoughtfully, taking Alia aback, "that all this time of Axl copying and assimilating various DNA has eventually rotted his CPU..."
"Yeah, maybe you have a point there..." They both sighed in unison, before Sigma continued on to his work. Deep inside he kept thinking how those two, and Zero, managed to beat him a long, long time ago.
Back to X and Axl; what exactly were they arguing about exactly? "Come on X. think for a momenbt here, and think of us. You the father of Reploids, and me the marvel of human machine DNA; what could be next? You of all people know what Ciel's capable of with that brain of hers, right?"
"But what you're thinking, Axl, is just wrong!" X retorted. "A Reploid and a human can't reproduce, how many times do I have to get it through that thick helmet of yours?"
"All I'm saying is, it is a possibility. Come on, I said it once, I will say it again. Ciel and Zero love each other, and they have to have found a way around their 'limitation'."
"What you're thinking, Axl, is how they will get to 'do it'. That is not how a relationship goes. Don't you get it?"
"Really? It doesn't?"
X sighed and rolled his eyes. "It's no wonder you never got into any relationships at all... Anyway, a Reploid and a human are allowed relationships by this time of peace. They are bound to overlook these boundaries for the sake of something like love..."
"But, to continue their relationship," Axl countered, "they still have to-"
"AXL!" X shouted, losing his patience. "Why do you keep insisting about something like that?!"
"Simple. I just want to exert my influence on someone likely to become my godson. Zero's bound to appoint one of us, right?"
"Here we go again," X muttered, slapping his head in contempt. "I'll say this, for one last time. If Zero was bound to be a father or not, he will not appoint YOU as godfather."
Axl was about to argue, again, however, he was interrupted by Palette, appearing out of nowhere. "Axl, there's some people outside of Space that want to talk to you,"
"Huh?" Axl said, in response.
"I think one of them is Zero in that copy body of his, and I don't think he's here for a regular visit. In fact, he looks like he's got a Reploid bone to pick with you."
"Uh, oh," Axl said. "X, need a little help here..."
X waved his arms in front of him in defense. "I'm a man of peace, not war. Don't get me involved in your antics anymore."
"Oh, thanks a lot."
"Hey there, Axl." Zero appeared so suddenly that both X and Axl jumped.
"Z- Ze- Zero! How'd you get here?"
Zero pointed to his helmet. "Professor Adelbert gave me a gift when I recovered last time. Now, I'm here about something you told Alouette, about Ciel and myself?"
Being a permanent Maverick since Abel City, Zero's facial expression always showed signs of calm malice. However, this time, he was looking quite malevolent.
"Oh, man, I am so screwed," Axl muttered, as X scurried away. Either the latter doesn't want to be discriminated by Zero, or see the violence that is sure to come.
Zero shook his head as he approached Axl, cracking his knuckles menacingly. "Oh, you don't know the meaning of the word..." The last thing anyone heard was Axl's desperate cries for help...
