I changed my username so it matches Paul's(Ryu and Nina are a couple in Breath of Fire). He told me that I should be the one to put this up in this board. Also, this is my first fanfiction, so please don't be harsh with me.
DISCLAIMER: I don't own Pokemon.
Conflicted Heart
"She's probably going out with that other guy now, and you're completely hapless to the world when it comes to the matter. That can never change now that it's too late."
Ash Ketchum kept telling this to himself over and over. But no matter how many times it rang in his head, the thought kept coming back. Or is it that it's because that's the only thing on his mind right now?
Turning to his only "experienced" friend wasn't quite a good solution. Brock, more experienced in the field than Ash like mentioned, wasn't really an expert at all.
"Always follow your heart, and not any other person's advice. It's best that you make your own decisions that way, especially on THAT sort of matter."
So, the solution that the tanned Pewter City gym leader may not be good advice. Or could it? No one knows for sure at the moment. All Ash has to do is try the suggestion or not to prove otherwise.
As Ash walked through the grass lawn outside the Pokemon Center, he mulled his thoughts. Ten minutes from now, his friend May, who came from Johto all the way north to Sinnoh just to meet them, will now be boarding the ship back. Ash's Pokemon were all lined up nearby, watching their trainer trudge around.
'What do I tell her? That I like her? That's absurd to say out loud, isn't it?'
'Maybe if I could ask her to stay around for a little longer- No, that won't work. She has to go back to Johto soon, and I hear the Grand Festival there is starting soon.'
"What if she really looks like this Drew guy? And then I come to her, telling about my feelings. Man, that would really be- And, not to mention, what will it do to our friendship? UGH!"
Ash scratched his hair with both hands furiously. He walked backwards to a park bench, and fell back first there. "What do I do; what do I have to say? She will be out any minute now..."
Putting a hand in his pocket, Ash searched it, and found what he was looking for. Taking it out, we saw what it was: a pink-laced half of a ribbon. Last time he took it out, Ash and May(who held the other half) held them together against the light of the moon.
"I don't even now what this thing means!" Ash shouted out loud. "Why did I even have Sceptile cut it in half anyway?"
(At a certain, yet distant, lab, the Forest Pokemon sneezed loudly,)
At that very moment, three people stepped out of the Pokemon Center. The one in the middle is May, the girl he's been arguing with himself over. Flanked on left and right of her are Dawn, another friend and Coordinator like May, and Brock, respectively.
Dawn and May were talking animatedly about their exploits in the Wallace Cup. Brock, however, easily took notice of Ash, and suddenly and quickly pulled Dawn away. May, left behind, was perplexed by Brock's actions.
"Hey! What are you doing?" Dawn asked, a little miffed as Brock continued to pull her away from May and Ash.
"You'll see in a moment. And, no, Croagunk, I'm not stooping to THAT level!" Brock said out loud when his poison-type appeared. The Pokemon, however, was still suspicious, and so instead followed the two, until they hid behind a tree.
Meanwhile, Ash, still lying on the bench, was so absentminded that he didn't notice May until she softly called his name. Ash nearly fell off the bench right after.
"What's wrong with you?" May asked, eyeing Ash's composition. From the "more ruffled than usual" hair to his position on the ground, it's nothing to miss.
"To tell the truth," Ash replied, as he stood up, "I have no idea." Of course, that was a lie.
Ash and May stood there for what seemed like eternity. They both avoided looking each other in the eyes, however for different reasons. Ash trained his eyes on May's stuffed fanny, which hung to one side of her hip. "So, you're leaving now?"
"Yes." Again, pure silence, minus the breeze around them. May saw the ribbon Ash was holding tightly in his right hand. She rummaged in her fanny with one hand, and took out her half of the ribbon.
"Ash, here. I want you to have my half of the ribbon," she said, holding out her hand to Ash. The latter was caught by surprise.
"Wha- Why?" Ash quickly shook his head. "No, wait." Ash pushed May's hand back to her, and extended his own. "You take my half."
This time it was May who was caught by surprise. It was then followed by another embarrassed silence. "Are you sure?" she asked. This time she tried looking into Ash's eyes, while he kept avoiding them. "But why?"
"Yeah," Ash said slowly. He scratched his head again, only this was gentler than last time, out of more embarrassment. "Well, you are going back to Johto, right? Back to Drew, Harley, everyone?"
May nodded wordlessly. Ash breathed a deep sigh. 'What next?' Brock's words echoed in his head again. Another deep sigh. "So you can't, er, forget me while you're there." Ash prayed, hoping that those were the right words.
May shook her head ruefully, and then repeated Ash's gesture earlier by handing the ribbon back to him. "Ash, you silly," she said teasingly. "What makes you think I'm going to forget someone like you?"
Ash grinned sheepishly. However, it was like a balloon burst deep inside of him. "Ash," May continued, "I will never forget someone like you. Ever."
"Oh." For reasons Ash couldn't explain, the balloon inside of him inflated again, making him soar inwardly. Sort of...
Both Dawn and Brock grinned. "Hey, you think Ash maybe tried following my advice?" the latter thought out loud, grinning even more broadly.
"Oh, brother," Dawn said, shaking her head, and rolling her eyes. "I highly doubt it," she retorted, pulling Brock out of the tree to rejoin Ash and May so they can all say farewell to the latter.

Sorry, Paul was too lazy again, and that PSP never left his hands since, ever. I hope I got the format right, did I? -Man, this update margin is nearly as long as the epilogue wait on NWiS. Really, really sorry!
MH34: Fateful Meeting
(back with Ash's group, it is just a little while before the laser hit Lilycove City's coast)
The trio were, just now, boarding the boat leaving for the Seafoam Islands, the SS Minnow. Pikachu, on his trainer's shoulder, sensed something from above, at the southwest.
"What's wrong, Pikachu?" Ash asked.
Just that very moment, that strange feeling vanished. The Electric Mouse shook his head, thinking it was just that: a feeling.
As soon as the boat left the docks, did Max lean uneasiy on the railing. "Ugh, I don't feel so good," he muttered, clutching his stomach.
"Max, we haven't even left port," Dawn commented.
"I know," Max said, his hand not leaving his stomach, "but that doesn't help me one bit..."
Ash, who was below deck earlier, reappeared. He had food in his hands, but the sight of them made Max hurl even more. "What happened to him?" Ash asked.
"Seasickness," was the quick reply from Dawn. Max was, at that time now, doubled over the ship's railing, was in danger of falling off, had it not for Ash and Dawn pulling him back in.
After the little mishap, the group joined the rest of the ship's guests in bouts of relaxation. Dawn and Ash also released their Pokemon to enjoy the trip as well. The latter trainer had a sudden temporary mind blackout when he released his overweight Torterra, who was so heavy that the ship tilted at the bow.
"Sorry, sorry," Ash sheepishly apologized to the others as he recalled the disappointed Continent Pokemon. The ship had its balance, and course, returned to normal right after.
Pikachu stood at the very tip of the ship's bow, ignorant of the accidents this whole time. His eyes are still trained on the sky above. Just to the south, high in the sky that it was like a large ink blot, was a mysterious shape.
"Pikachu, what's wrong?" Ash asked once again, approaching his partner from the rear. He followed the Electric Mouse's gaze, and saw the very same strange object. "What is that?"
Other guests on deck also pointed to the object, wondering what it was. Then, in a split second, the twilight sky was lit up by a flash of bright light. The flash was caused by the pillar of light(the laser) coming down from the sky, and hitting the sea.
The impact was far southwest, but was still felt by the boat's passengers right where they are. Tidal waves the size of big-city skyscrapers swallowed the ship, and it was a surprise that it hasn't completely capsized, instead resurfacing, although barely.
An overhead radio was heard throughout the Minnow, with the captain's voice. "Everyone, get inside! The waters are too dangerous!"
Two sailors appeared from below deck to follow up their officer's orders. The sailors heralded the ship guests down to safety.
"Come on, Ash, Max, let's go, IT is dangerous here," Dawn said to her friends. No answer. "Guys?" she called, whirling around. Ash, Pikachu and Max are gone! "Guys!" she repeated, in an alarming shout.
Hundreds of feet from the Minnow, Max floats upside down underwater, unconscious. His glasses are gone. Water Pokemon around him weren't giving him a second glance as they fled the scene, as far away from the laser as possible.
Schools of Magikarp and Goldeen swam past Max, and still he didn't stir. Something scared them, and it wasn't very far behind.
A large, shadowed shape appeared. It's nearly as large as an average Wailord, but doesn't have the general shape. The mysterious creature looked like it was sniffing Max around, then opened its wide mouth, and everything went blank.
=====
"Gahhh!" Max shouted. He sat up very fast, sweating.
"Max, calm down," Dawn, on his side, said.
"Wha- Where am I?" Max asked. He looked around. From the white curtain sheets surrounding his bed, he realized he must be in a hospital. "Where are we, Dawn?"
"In the Seafoam Island Pokemon Center. What happened, Max? Where have you been?"
"What do you mean?"
"You and Ash disappeared on the Minnow. Then, two days later, you wash up on shore. What happened to you?"
"I- I don't remember," Max said, a hand to his head. Then something hit him. "I thought I dreamed that I was swallowed by something, and-"
"Swallowed?" Dawn repeated. "By a Wailord?"
"No, I don't think so. Wait a second. Where's Ash?"
At the mention of Ash's name, Dawn's face clouded. "I don't know, Max. He's gone..."
=====
In Mask's fortress, after the laser, several characters were introduced. One is Armand, who formally introduced himself to them this time. Others included Ariel and her grandfather Boreas(unknown to May and company). The rest are unknown to the reader...
"For now," Meowth muttered, for a mere second before going back to his consort.
Huh. I did find a use for him. NOT!
Ariel first shoot a look, not unlike Armand's, at a certain Pokemon with a certain hairstyle before following her grandfather and Armand. They proceeded right into Mask's office, and the man made specific instructions for the meeting to be disturbed by no one.
"I wonder what's going on?" May asked as she glanced at the stairs leading to the now off-limits office. "Do you think that it has something to do with that light we saw, guys?"
"Probably," was Misty's guess.
Inside, a large rectangle table was set up. All the members of the meeting sat around it, with Mask at the head. Boreas, on the seat closest to Mask on the right, rose from his seat to speak.
"That laser was seen all over the world," Boreas was saying, "and from what I hear, it was seen here as well. Where in the world did that thing came from, Mask? And how was it even possible to witness it here?"
Boreas turned to the other members around him, and they voiced their agreement. Mask held up his hand to silence the murmurs.
"I thought that by now you would know what caused this," Mask said calmly. "The laser is not of this world; it came from the sky."
"Cut the theatrics, Mask," Armand retorted. "Thousands could have been killed from that blast!"
Mask turned his attention to the ground-type trainer. Even though none of them could see his face, they can tell that he was looking grim. "We all know what the Void is planning to do. Unless controlled, it will slowly devour all the worlds in this dimension.
"To accomplish such a feat in quick succession, the Void uses its power to control time and space. To compress all the worlds into one, so the Void can take it all in, as they say, 'one swallow'."
"But that still doesn't explain the laser," a young, blonde woman to Ariel's left spoke up. A buxom woman that completely dwarfs Ariel's, er, 'measurements'. "Or is there a possibility of a world, amongst all those compressed, that has such technological advancements?
"I'm pretty sure we've been through that stage just yet. I also doubt that that laser was an improved Hyper Beam, either."
Mask turned to her. "Lita, you are correct. Where could that laser have come from?" The question was rhetorical, since Mask has the answer himself.
Outside, in the castle's courtyard, May and her friends are having lunch. Pichu, still a "little round", was doing push-ups right next to May's platter. Noctowl, watching nearby, was trying to figure out how to scratch his head, while in turn trying to figure out how his "Guardee" gained weight in so little time.
From the entrance to the castle, something small, something blue, something as round as Pichu bounced out into the courtyard. Pichu, curious, bounced himself off the table to see what it was.
The newcomer was, in fact, an Azurill. Just as Pichu bounded off the table, he landed right on top of the latter, and the impact caused them to bounce off in different directions.
"Pichu!" May exclaimed as she ran to pick up the Pokemon. Other than swirlies on its eyes, the baby is fine.
"Azurill, where are you? You always cause trouble for me."
From the entrance, the young girl they saw earlier ran out. She ran to where her Azurill landed, and picked the Pokemon up, just like May. Like Pichu, the Polka Dot Pokemon had swirly eyes on it.
The girl, knowing right away what happened, strode over to May. "I'm so sorry, Azul always runs off like that," she said, bowing in front of May.
May waved her hands in front of her, dismissing the apology embarrassedly. "Don't worry about it. My Pichu also likes to cause a lot of trouble." Behind her, Brock, Misty and the Pokemon were all nodding in unison.
"Oh, where are my manners? The name's Ariel. What's yours?"
"My name's May." The two girls shook hands, making fast friends. May beckoned the other girl to introduce her to Brock and Misty. Taking a liking to her for reasons they can't explain, the trio invited her to lunch, which Ariel gladly accepted.
Ariel took a seat right between Misty and May, and across the table from Brock. This arrangement was not keen for two certain baby Pokemon. Pichu and Azurill are out for each other's blood since their first, meeting. Noctowl, in between, rolled his eyes, or head, it doesn't matter.
Ariel took one look at the Pokemon dotted in an around the courtyard, and she was impressed. "Wow," she said in awe. "Are all these yours?"
"Not all of them," Brock said, handing out a platter of food to her. "Some, yes, but most belong to our friend, Ash."
"Ash?" Ariel repeated. "You don't mean Ash Ketchum by any chance, do you?"
"You met Ash?" May asked, sounding interested.
"Yes," Ariel replied with a nod. "I am one of the new gym leaders Mask assigned to Kanto. Ash, who was challenging the League right now, was one of the very first opponents that managed to beat me."
"Oh." May, for hearing news about Ash, felt like an enormous weight was lifted off her shoulders for the first time. She feels this in a way that she doesn't even notice Ariel continuing the story.
"He's been through three gyms already. It's like there's nothing stopping him," Ariel said.
"Yep, that's Ash alright," Misty said, nodding.
CONTINUED
-Ironic, isn't it? The moment May hears some news about Ash, she thinks of his safety, and it turns out that he's in a tight spot that very moment. What do we know, HE'S GONE!

The closet at home is full of model kits: some SD, the Endless Waltz custom kit minus Sandrock. By the way, the proof thing, it's not just on this thread, it is possible on the whole internet as well.

That is Sceptile, the final evolution of Treecko (man, you really are behind if you don't know who Sceptile is.... or Grovyle.... or even Treecko...). Hmm... I guess that could be a hint to some people.... I've only been playing emerald, and i chose torchic as my pokemon. I never realised that it was the same pokemon that Ash has in the current Phillipine episode. Treeko, was it?

I stumbled on serbii(sp?) a while ago, and saw this. www.serebii.net/anime/pictures/kanto/440ps3.shtmlI couldn't post the exact picture, but it was the first on the third row. The one where May was looking very worried for Ash and his pokemon. PS: where did he get that green Pokemon?

Dryuu, now Redeemer Ryu, and Sweetgirl are a couple around your age How old is Cascade? Paul and I have a 4 year gap in age. I used to be overweight, and I also wear glasses, but it didn't matter. Of the entire time Paul and I were in the same school, it took him 4 years to notice me (he was sophomore when he transferred to our school; I was Grade 5). But even after that, we just became friends. Many people that time thought our friendship weird, between a freshman and senior, especially with Paul's current relationship then. But we don't care. We shared a lot in common: same interests, we both wear glasses, he isn't overweight like me but eats like Jughead Jones of the comics. He broke up with his first girlfriend (I forgot the name) two years after his graduation. And when he told me that, he also told me he and she weren't meant to be, but he told me we were. Paul may try to be tough, but he really is a sweet person inside.

Paul asked me to put this up, he's too tired right now. He just told me to copy and paste and I'm set. I also followed his format here, but I may have missed some things. I'm also the one who updated at ff.net using his account. I removed the note he included about college.
MH33: Aerial Aces Part II
Pidgeot used Aerial Ace countless times at his target, Ash's Staravia, and they hit like missiles. Staravia flew back to the floor of the arena, Roosting to try to recover any lost energy. However, this may not be a very good idea. Pidgeot now has a clear shot of his opponent, and blew another round of strokes of Razor Winds.
Meanwhile, Gligar managed to start her offensive herself. Skarmory, this time trying to defend himself, was not even exerting any effort. Of course, being a highly-resistant steel-type may have something to do with this.
"Staravia, go and use Brave Bird again!"
Staravia used a Whirlwind to blow Pidgeot away for a second. Then, the former folded his wings, and flew towards Pidgeot at high speed. The collision of the two Pokemon created firework-like effects, and both fell back to solid ground.
Pidgeot managed to get up first. The Starling Pokemon, on the other hand, struggled to his feet seconds later, shaking in the process.
"Staravia," Ash called worriedly. "Can you still make it?" The Starling Pokemon responded with the best cry he could muster. "I hope I won't hate myself for this," Ash muttered. "Roost for a while, and confund Pidgeot with Double Team!"
The Starling complied, and soon, doubles of Staravia are dotted around the field. Pidgeot was surrounded, and, taking much damage himself, can't risk attacking one that may be just an illusion. Able to buy his Pokemon some time, Ash turned his attention to the other two combatants. For some reason, something is distracting Ash, he thought to himself, since he can usually concentrate on double battles better than on this one.
"Gligar, use Screech, then Brick Break!"
Gligar opened her mouth wide, and let out a powerful screeching sound, stunning Skarmory. Then, her claws glowing, the Sky Scorpion punched furiously at Skarmory. The attacks dented his armor-skin, but he immediately countered with a Fury Attack.
However, Gligar managed to act first, and used Steel Wing so that the attacks to bounce off her literally. After this, she delivered another Brick Break to Skarmory's head. The attack finally managed to stun Skarmory enough for Gligar to deliver an Iron Tail to supplement the Brick Break.
Meanwhile, Pidgeot has already managed to destroy Staravia's doubles with Twister. The powerful dragon-type move enveloped the entire stadium in a powerful vortex. The real Staravia was also caught in the gust, but he planted his claws deep into the arena.
Pidgeot flew towards his target. Even with his speed, going through the Twister looked like it was taking forever. When they finally hit, the Twister imploded from the inside, releasing a powerful shockwave blast that blew everyone off their feet for a second.
When they managed to get back up, Pidgeot was at bay, right at the middle of his attacking maneuvre. What's holding him back, is not Staravia. This Pokemon is as large as Pidgeot, has similar colors to Staravia, but there's a very intimidating red crest on his head.
"Wow. It's a Staraptor!" Max gasped. "Staravia evolved into a Staraptor!"
"Yes, Max," Marky replied. "We can see that."
Ash mouthed a silent "Yes!" in his head. Two evolutions in a row in a League run, not bad, he thought, grinning. "Staraptor, you ready for more?"
The Predator Pokemon nodded vigorously before turning his attention back to his opponent. Gligar, meanwhile, was re-invigorated by the evolution of her friend. Ash and his Pokemon all share the same look of determination in their eyes.
"Staraptor, use Take Down!" Staraptor pushed forward, knocking Pidgeot off his feet for a second.
"Pidgeot, use Wing Attack! Skarmory, ignore Gligar for now and go for Staraptor as well."
Pidgeot swerved his wings sideways, trying to swipe the Predator. However, the latter ducked, and delivered a Wing Attack himself. Skarmory came in from behind, using Fury Attack. Again, Staraptor, a fast player, ducked once again, and Skarmory instead crashed into his teammate!
When the two of Boreas' Pokemon have recovered, they found Staraptor was now a good distance from them. He was flying right next to his teammate Gligar, and both looked like they have used Recover on themselves or something.
"Now it's even," Ash called to the gym leader.
"Not quite," Boreas replied. To Pidgeot, he shouted, "Use Twister again!"
With a loud flap of his wings, Pidgeot had the stadium enveloped in Twister again. While his friends were blown off their feet again, Ash stood firm this time, covering his eyes with his hands.
"Staraptor, fly through the Twister with Brave Bird!"
Considering the situation, the name of of the attack seemed very fitting right now. The Predator Pokemon folded his wings and flew straight through the Twister towards his opponents.
Boreas, who was also shielding himself from the gale, had Skarmory cover the blunt of the attack while Pidgeot was right behind him. However, instead of flying straight to Skarmory, Staraptor took a sharp turn upwards, revealing Gligar, who was right behind him!
The Armor Bird Pokemon managed to duck, but his partner wasn't so lucky. Gligar scored a direct-hit Brick Break at Pidgeot, sending the Bird pokemon flying, and crashing, into the wall of the stadium!
This left Skarmory. Incidentally, he is now surrounded by Staraptor and Gligar from both sides. "Altogether now, you two!" Ash commanded. "Pincer him!"
"Was that an attack?" Loraine wondered.
"No," Max replied, "but look at what they're doing!"
Staraptor and Gligar flew at Skarmory from different sides, from the left and right, respectively. Skarmory, in the process, was confused as to who to hit first, and instead was hit by Aerial Aces from both Pokemon!
The impact from both attacks sent Skarmory flying out of control. Staraptor then closed in, and delivered a critical Brave Bird, finally knocking the aerial tank out of the sky, and down for the count.
Ariel happily announced the results: "Skarmory and Pidgeot are unable to battle. The winners are Gligar and Staraptor!"
Once again, the Boreas met his opponent in the center of the arena. "Here it is," Boreas said, handing the cloud-shaped Stratos badge to Ash similar to John's. "The Stratos Badge, Ash. Like many others before me said, you deserve it."
Ash took the badge in his hand like it was made of diamonds or something. He was literally itching to try a certain something, and Dawn rolled her eyes, exclaimed, "Just go on with it!"
"Okay, okay, keep your hair on," Ash retorted. Like a bottled up soda being opened, he blurted out, while holding the badge high in the air, "I won the Stratos Badge!"
His friends applauded, Ariel being the most enthusiastic, of course. His Pokemon also cheered at their teammates' achievement.
=====
While living on Cyrus' "hospitality", Team Rocket were given some "volunteer work". Much of this work involves moving furniture around, fixing his many machine, among others.
"Ugh," a bad-tempered Jessie groaned, as she dropped a very heavy crate, before dropping herself on it. "I'm not cut out for this. Where's that fork-tongued Meowth when you need him?"
Oh, he's just flirting off with another Meowth somewhere...
"WHAT?!" A volcano appeared behind Jessie, erupting. And then the temperature of the room is rising rapidly. "Oh, just wait 'til I get my hands on HIM!!"
Ah, sweet, sweet revenge... Tastes like chocolate... Plus, I really, really have to get some popcorn when Meowth comes back. Fireworks are about to begin, he, he...
=====
"We're taking the Cycle Road bypass to head to Celadon City up north," Marky announced during the group's lunch back at Boreas' palace. "What about you, Ash?"
"According to the brochure, the Seafoam Islands is south of here," Dawn said. "I always wanted to see what the place looks like. What do you say, Ash?"
"Yeah, Ash, I'll bet there would be interesting Pokemon to be seen there, Ash," Max agreed. "Please, please, can we head there?" he added pleadingly.
Ash shook his head ruefully. "I guess I'm outvoted," he said, grinning to his two companions. "We can go to Seafoam, and after that, to Cinnabar Island for the next gym."
"It's decided then," John said. he stood up, and walked to Ash's seat. "I guess that the next time we will be meeting, might be in the Pokemon League, Ash."
John and Ash shook hands. "Maybe, maybe not. Who knows?" he said.
Boreas, who was quiet the whole time, cleared his throat o get everyone's attention. "Ash, if you're heading to Seafoam, why not stay for a while with a friend of mine there?"
Ash looked at his friends, and saw them shrug. Deciding for all of them, he said, "Sure. Why not?"
"Good. Professor Westwood would be glad to have some company over, I'm sure."
Something clicked deep in Ash's memory. "Professor Westwood?" he repeated.
Everyone turned to him. "Why, Ash?" Dawn inquired. "You know him or something?"
"Well yeah. He was a colleague of Professor Oak's, and helped design the Pokedex, or," his eyes rolled, "so they say...
"While Brock, Misty and myself were there, we helped him in a problem in his research," Ash continued. "In a manner of speaking, Team Rocket sort of helped, too..."
"Ah, so you do know Professor Westwood," Boreas declared. "Well, there's no need for formal introductions when you meet him. Now, why don't you lot stay one more night and leave tomorrow?"
No one refused the offer. By the next day, they are all refreshed to go on their separate journeys. Boreas took Ash to one side, before leaving. He gave the latter what looked like a blunt tooth from a Pokemon.
Raising an eyebrow, Ash asked, "What is it, and why are you giving it to me?"
"One, I don't know myself. Two, I want you to give this to Westwood when you meet him," Boreas said. "He would probably know what it is."
The group parted ways, Boreas and Ariel staying, Marky's group going west, and Ash's group south to a port. As they left, Ariel turned to her grandfather. "What was it that you gave Ash? You really don't know what it is?"
"Either that, or I have to tell him our Boss gave it to him as a present. Now, tell me, shouldn't you be in a certain gym right now, young lady?"
"Oops," Ariel sheepishly said, "sorry, Grandpa. I'd better go back right away."
As Ariel sprinted back to her room, Boreas rolled his eyes. "Kids today," he said with a huge sigh.
=======
"What did I tell you that I did not wish to be disturbed?" Mask stood up from his chair, and picked up the mask he lay right next to him on his desk. His back was to the MiB who intruded on his sleep.
"But sir, it's an emergency. You have to see this." He paid respect by first letting Mask put the grotesque crystal artifact on, before logging into the computer at the desk. The energy measure broadcast on the computer astonished Mask.
"When did this happen?"
"Just today, sir. It came from the Void surrounding the area, but I doubt it's the Void itself. Here, this is where it came from." He typed in a few more keys, and showed a video of the sky. From the horizon, it looked like just the coast off of Lilycove City. There was something on the twilight, something Mask knows shouldn't be there.
"Sir, could that be what we were looking for?"
"No, the energy is high, but not as high as our target's. But," Mask's voice sounded grim, "it's worse than I expected. Order evacuation of the whole area, maybe all the way through to Rustboro."
"Sir, don't you think that's a bit exaggerated? We-" Before he could finish, the whole computer went blank, and shorted out. This was followed by a powerful quake, even though they're on a flying fortress!
Outside, May and Pichu could have fallen off the edge of the castle boundaries, until a timely rescue by Sceptile. Other Pokemon succeptible to fall were also rescued, by Snorlax.
"What was that?!" Brock exclaimed, hanging onto a tree with one hand, and securing Misty with the other. "Where did that shockwave come from?"
"Look," Misty said, pointing. Far away, very far away, was a shaft of light, that looked like it came from the sky or something. Everyone, human and Pokemon, looked at it in awe and a feeling of fear for reasons no one can explain.
Back in Mask's office...
Mask and his MiB were taken off their feet by the blast. The latter helped his lord to his feet, and noticed the computer was online again. Shakily, the MiB checked the readout. The light shaft was, in fact, a powerful laser, as seen from a stillshot taken the last second. The laser hit the sea, and not the city, luckily. But still, it caused the shockwave, that sent a thirty foot tsunami that raged for miles on water!
Luckily, there were no serious casualties reported. Lilycove City was in fact, almost deserted, due to bing close to the Grand Festival season.
"How could it be possible that we could feel the shockwave from here? Or even see the light for that matter?" the MiB wondered. He turned to his lord for answer.
"This whole situation gets worse by the minute," was all Mask could say.
